I made another smoothie today.
And I’m calling it the Green Monkey. Wanna guess why?
Yeah, I know… it’s pretty obvious.
Because it’s green. And it has bananas.
Wow, I’m a creative genius, huh?
I decided to put spinach in another smoothie today, after the one from yesterday went so well. (And thanks again to Kat for the idea!)
The Green Monkey
- 1/2 frozen banana
- 1/2 cup 1% milk
- 1/2 tbsp peanut butter
- 1/2 tsp cocoa powder
- handful spinach
- several ice cubes
Enjoy!
I think I liked this one better than yesterday’s because of the addition of the cocoa powder.
I think it’s really funny that the cocoa powder is “Best Life” approved. I mean, is that really the reason you’re going to buy cocoa powder? Because Bob Greene approved it?
Personally, I buy it to make cake. And brownies.
The smoothie was just an added bonus.
This would also have been good with some chocolate protein powder, but we have run out.
I’d say Brandon used about 95% of that container and I used the rest.
But that’s ok. He can keep using the protein powder since he has way bigger muscles than I do! And then I can just sit back and admire my hubby with the hot-bod.
After enjoying that smoothie, I also made myself this:
One of my favorite bowls of oatmeal.
I’ve mentioned it before, but as a reminder:
- 1/2 cup oats
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/2 cup milk
- dash cinnamon
- 1 tsp vanilla
- spoonful of brown sugar
- diced strawberries
After cooking in the microwave for a little under 2 minutes, I top it with chopped walnuts.
Delicious.
I was really hungry after running 4 miles and walking another mile at the gym. On the treadmill. Which I do not enjoy. Bleck. I don’t know why, but I just really dislike running on the treadmill. And it didn’t help that while I was running at a measly 5.6 mph, the girl next to me was running at 8.0.
I call her the “machine.” She never stops. I guess I sound a little jealous, huh?
I need to remind myself that I just started running a couple of months ago. I can’t expect myself to all of a sudden be a super-star athlete, right??

On to more interesting news. Big Brother.
You knew it was coming!
(Time to leave if you don’t want spoilers!)
I just have a few thoughts about last night’s episode:
1. I LOVE that Jordan was honest with Rachel about her behavior and the things she says to other people. Good for Jordan for having the courage to say something.
2. I finally figured out who Cassi looks like. Olivia Wilde! Do you agree?
3. Wow, Rachel wins Head of Household again. The poor “newbies” just don’t stand a chance, do they? Who do you think she’ll put up? I’m thinking Adam and Dominic…
Questions for ya…
What are your thoughts on last night’s episode?
Do you ever feel discouraged when you see someone else running faster, lifting heavier, etc at the gym?
Feel free to leave any other comments/thoughts as well!!! I love to hear them!

I don’t usually do my workouts at the gym, but the few times I have I really don’t pay attention much to that sort of thing. Maybe I’m just passive.
I usually don’t either! That’s why I’m kind of surprised with myself. I think it’s because I’m new to running and a little insecure about how slow I am. Silly, but true.
Thanks for your comment!
That smoothie actually sounds delish
Is that normal??
It really is tasty! Who would have thought?!
All of these spinach smoothies are piquing my interest, I just may have to try one! I have a super easy and fairly light dessert for you to try out, and it’s perfect for summer! Buy two graham cracker crusts, a 12 oz can of frozen OJ, an 8 oz tub of Lite Cool Whip, and a half gallon (or less, since that’s what they’re making now) of vanilla ice cream. Mix the OJ, Cool Whip, and ice cream together (I used the dough hook on my Kitchenaid mixer so it was easier than by hand), divide the concoction between the two graham cracker crusts and freeze. Now you have two yummy cool treats to enjoy and/or give away!
Wow, thanks!! Where did you come up with that one? Does it taste like a creamcicle? Yum!!
I love Green Monsters too! Yay spinach in smoothies! Good call on the Cassi/Olivia thing. I let out a big UGGHHHHHHHHH when Rachel one again. I can’t stand her, but girl plays a good game though!!
She plays a good game, if she could just keep her mouth closed!

all-time fav smoothie ever. almost like dessert. almost…..
That smoothie looks so good! I just started using cocoa powder in some of my smoothies as well. Try trading the banana for a cup of raspberries and add a 6oz container of greek yogurt for a punch of protein! It’s soooo good!
Ooh I like the raspberry idea! Yum!!
