It’s hard to believe, but it’s finally happening.
People, we are finally closing on our house. On May 31st, we will finally be out of this hotel and into our own home!
Actually, I’m getting ahead of myself. On May 31st we’re closing, but we don’t actually move in until Saturday June 2nd. That whole “Brandon has to work during the week” thing is really slowing us down. ![]()
I just can’t believe it. After almost 100 days, I will transition from using this “kitchen” (I use that term loosely) …
… to using this kitchen:
Can I get an “AMEN!”??
The funny thing is, I’ve grown kind of attached to my Residence Inn peeps. I’m pretty much BFF now with everyone who runs the front desk and the kitchen staff. It’s almost hard to imagine life without them …
… almost. ![]()
Today I wanted to give you guys a sneak-peek at our new home. I’m just so excited, that I can’t wait anymore to share it with you! ![]()
For privacy purposes, I’m not going to show the whole outside of the house, but this picture gives you a nice idea.
The backyard has a privacy fence, and a cute area to hang out and grill with friends!
I love the hardwood floors in the living room!
Stairs to the upstairs level.
Master bedroom, with doors leading into the master bathroom.
That’s not the whole house, but it gives you a general idea of the place.
Now all of the furniture that you see is the current owners’ property. We are currently on the hunt for new furniture. And we have a lot of rooms to furnish! It total, we have 4 bedrooms, 3 full baths, an “extra” room (basically a bedroom without a closet), living room, dining room, and kitchen! We have some furniture now, but most of it is hand-me-downs from Brandon’s parents, and we’re ready for some new furniture of our very own.
I know we don’t have to furnish every room right away. But we do want to tackle some of the rooms A-SAP. Any tips on where to find the best deals? I’d love to hear your suggestions!! ![]()
Question for ya …
Any suggestions on where to find good furniture deals?
Any decorating suggestions??
(I’m not very good at that stuff … )
What are you up to this weekend?

That house is incredible, I’m so jealous!! I love the modern updates in the kitchen!
Thank you, Emily! We’re really excited about it. You can find some good deals on houses in the Atlanta area right now!
Your kitchen is absolutely beautiful! My favorite way to decorate is to hunt for furniture at estate sales and then paint/refinish/recover it to make it my own! You’re going to have so much fun making that house your home:)
kaceyjt recently posted..Food For Friends: Chicken Pot Pie
Can you come do that for me? Haha!
Check JC Penny outlet….there is one off of I-75 near Atlanta. (at least there used to be). We got a fabulous deal on a leather recliner and wrap around couch when they had a furniture outlet in Columbus. It was a 4,000 dollar set we got for under 1,000. Not sure if the Atlanta one has furniture but worth a try!
Thank you, Melody!! I’ll need to do some google searching!
Wow what an incredible house!! Seriously that is just a great look all over…. you must be so excited

Thank you DeDe!! Hope you guys are doing well!!
Wow your house looks gorgeous!! And I’m so excited for you guys to be finally moving in! For smaller decorations, TJ Maxx Homegoods always has some great stuff for great prices!

Very good idea, Lindsay!
Kristen! I love the home.. so beautiful.. how lucky that you are so young and have such a big lovely home! Congratulations! For decorative pieces of furntiture that are great prices I’d check out IKEA.. they have so many great pieces that we bought when we had a bigger home and needed to furnish it. Consoles and artwork, bookcases, tables.. etc. Now if you want hardwood very sturdy and furniture that will last you a longer time, I’d try Robb & Stucky or Bassett for furniture. I got all of our bedroom set at a Robb & Stucky outlet- all of it for about under 2k. Everyone always comments on it. Also*** please check out Costco and Sams Club.. I am not kidding, sometimes they have the most beautiful furniture.. amazing bedroom sets (consider queen, please, kings seem to complicate everything..lol) and beautiful wood chests and dressers…gorgeous, check it out every now and then because they are always brining in new stuff. Great price for real quality. Hope you find what you want!
Can you buy stuff from Costco/Sams if you don’t have their card? Thank you for all of your ideas!
no but you can join costco for as low as $50 for a year n you will love the savings
I’m a new reader and I’m so glad I stumbled across your blog! Your new house looks gorgeous. I just moved into a new home and while the worst part is the actual move, the best part is definitely decorating!

also… as for furniture and decorating, we’ve actually found some reasonable and quality furniture from target. ikea is just okay… i find that it is a great price but it’s also not very quality. just my two cents.

Ashley @ My Food ‘N’ Fitness Diaries recently posted..An Inspirational Story
I’ve heard that about IKEA. I’m thinking just for small things I’ll go there … things that I’d want to replace in a few years, anyways.
Ahh I am so excited for you girl! The house looks absolutely gorgeous, and that kitchen? Oh my gosh beautiful! I absolutely love decorating my house, it is such a blast and I can’t wait to see what you do with yours!

what a BEAUTIFUL house and that kitchen!! i LOVE it!! one of the biggest things I will need when we finally buy a house is a nice kitchen
too bad real estate in jersey is horrificly expensive..lol.
p.s. we tried the kale chips and we LOVED them. WEIRD texture but oddly addicting

Theresa recently posted..Day dates and quick dinners
Yay!! I’m so glad you guys liked the kale chips!!
And yes, we found a good deal here in Atlanta on a house. We were very blessed!
Since you live in Atlanta, I definitely recommend IKEA! Check out their catalog if nothing else – it gives you a lot of options, and of course, everything is affordable.
I love your new home!!!!! When can I come visit and cook in that amazing kitchen with you???

Love it Love it Love it!! That kitchen is gonna be a dream to work in!! I love the ceiling in the bedroom. Very cool!! I don’t know if they have an Ashley furniture store where you are, but I find they always have really good deals and a good combination of modern/classic styles so you can really have a good choice. They are pretty good price-wise and the quality is still good. We have quite a few things from there and no complaints!! How fun to go shopping!!
I think that’s one of the places we’re going to check out tonight!
Thanks, girl!!
Omg I LOVE it. I love amazing kitchens. To me that is my top important thing. I cant wait til we can buy a house. Sadly it will be anther 3 years or so, but just can’t wait!!

Meg recently posted..High Five Friday #15: Getting BIGGER!
Oh Wow! What a great house, congrats!! We did a major furniture overhaul a couple years ago and found some nice stuff at Furniture Row for our “big” purchases that we want to last a long time (bed, mattress, desk, coffee table, etc) and then filled in the rest (bookshelves/side tables/lamps/etc) at Cost Plus World Market, Target and Ikea!
Great tips!! Thank you, Sarah!
I forgot to add that our Ikea is doing a promotion right now where you get 15% back on an Ikea gift card if you purchase a sofa or armchair!
Congrats!! The house is absolutely beautiful and I can’t wait to see after pics!
I got my furniture at a local furniture store but my suggestion would be invest in some good furniture. I feel like something people get poor quality furniture with the intention of being able to replace it. However they never end up doing so. Plus if you get nice furniture now it will last years and years!
Good luck shopping!

Not quite yet, but we’ll get there!!

Hey Nicole! Thanks so much for writing!!
I hope to get to know you more!!
WOW! Your new house is g-o-r-g-e-o-u-s!!! Seriously. So much space and nice features! Haha, talk about a big upgrade huh?! That’s gonna feel great. As far as furniture, I would ask about floor models in furniture stores! Recently, my fiance and I got a BRAND NEW couch we loved for $200 cash because his Dad told the lady we were moving that day (which we were) and had to be able to put in on the Uhaul instantly! We would have had to order it and wait a week (for regularly $458) but since he made it clear it was either floor model or no sale, she made us a great deal! May not always work, but it was definitely a blessing and life saver for us! Good luck!

Avery @ YoungAspirations recently posted..April Picture Slide Show
Great advice, Avery! Thank you so much! We found some things at Rooms To Go on Friday, but we still have LOTS more to buy!
TJMaxx…Trendy and Cheap;)
Good idea! I definitely want to get some of our “finishing touches” at TJMaxx. I’m thinking that will be a good store to visit with Cheri because she has such a great decorating eye!
Love your house! It looks so pretty! Sounds like you have a lot of furniture-hunting to do! There are lots of DIY blogs out there with people who find stuff at thrift stores or garage sales for practically nothing. Then they take a can of spray paint and completely transform it into something amazing. Take your time decorating! You’ll have fun!
Thanks for the tips, Jennifer! I wish you were here to help me … you’re much craftier than I am!
