Rocking the Rock Wall.

Hi guys!  First of all, I just wanted to thank you for all of the “Happy Blogiversary” wishes I received after Monday’s post.  You guys are the best!  And if you haven’t checked out Monday’s post yet, you should!  I also discussed a delicious new summer drink that you don’t want to miss out on! Winking smile

What I didn’t get to share on Monday was details from our weekend with family … take 3!

On Thursday, our sister-in-law, Christi, and her little girls came to town.

I didn’t take a ton of pictures, because I was too busy having fun.  But here’s just a snapshot of the good times we had.

1. The girls helped me cut flowers from our backyard.

002-1500

Gorgeous, right?

003-1500

2. We threw on our aprons and baked some cookies!

005-1500

Mary-Allison was quite the sugar cookie decorator.

006-1500

Such intense concentration!

3. Uncle B read bedtime stories.

007-1500

They love their Uncle B!

4. We conquered the rock wall at Lifetime Fitness!

010-1500

Actually, if I’m honest, Mary-Allison and Brandon conquered it.

009-1500

(Don’t let that picture fool you … she got the whole way to the top!)

011-1500

While they “rocked” (pun intended) it out, I got about three-fourths of the way up each time.  Then I realized how high I was and immediately wanted my feet back on solid ground. Winking smile

Other highlights of the weekend that weren’t pictured:

1. Two nights in a row of Mellow Mushroom pizza.  (Yes, the same place we went to with my mom and Brandon’s parents.)

2. More frozen yogurt (you can never have enough).

3. Several rounds of hide-and-seek.

4. Lots of swimming.

5. Lots of bubble blowing.

All in all, a successful weekend. Smile  Thanks for visiting, ladies!!  We loved having you!

And now, on to WIAW!

Thanks to Jen for hosting!

WIAW June 27

Breakfast: Whole-wheat English muffin with peanut butter and banana.  I’ve been craving a good English muffin since we left the hotel.  But sadly, I can’t find the big ones at the grocery store.  Boo.

Snack #1: Organic vanilla yogurt topped with granola and blueberries.

Lunch: Microwaved sweet potato topped with peanut butter, a little brown sugar, and cinnamon.  On the side, raw veggies with a little ranch dressing.

Snack #2: Cookie dough Balance bar.  Really delicious, which (for some reason) I wasn’t expecting!

Dinner: Whole-wheat spaghetti in a marinara sauce.  The sauce was store-bought, but I cooked up some ground chicken to add to it, and I also added some garlic powder, Italian seasoning and red pepper flakes.  So good!

After Dinner Snack: Cherries.  I am loving these right now!!  I think cherries might be my favorite fruit, but I rarely get them because they can be expensive.  Right now they’re on sale … score!

———-

And finally, let’s talk Bachelorette.

(Warning: Spoilers ahead!)

emily bach

1. In my opinion, Chris needs to go.  He lacks confidence, which is not an attractive quality in a guy.

2. Jef is still my favorite.

jef

Actually, he’s even more my favorite after this week.  But I still don’t know if I necessarily see the two of them together.

3. Sean is a really close second favorite.

sean

And honestly, I think he might be a better match for Emily.

4. Why am I even worrying about who’s the better match?  Regardless, it’s not like this relationship will last past my next birthday.  And yet, I still can’t stop watching this show! Disappointed smile

Question for ya …

Ever been rock climbing?

Cream cheese or buttercream frosting for sugar cookies?

(I will always vote for cream cheese frosting.)

Best thing you’ve eaten this week?

Thoughts on ‘The Bachelorette?’

  7. Megan@ The Running Doc

I haven’t been rock climbing since I was a teenager! I bet if I tried it now it would make my shoulders super sore.

I like Jef the most, but I agree with you that I’m not really sure him and Emily together make the best couple.

I’ve never been rock climbing but i have some friends that absolutely LOVE it! i’m a little afraid of heights anddd lacking upper body strength so i’m not sure its quite my thing, hahaha

cherries are my FAVE too, I only grab them when they are on sale…I could eat way too many of them for my own good in one sitting ;)

The table with the flowers on it? Rooms To Go! And we actually got it on sale because it was the floor model. :) Thanks … we love it, too!

  10. natalie @ southern fit foodie

    Cream cheese all the way!

I haven’t done a rock wall in a looooong time, but when I was in the British Virgin Islands, I climbed all over the real rocks. :) They have these boulders everywhere that are all stacked together (naturally) and make caves and paths, and instead of going through them, I go over them. So much fun!

  11. Corrie Anne

Your flowers are gorgeous!! Love them. I’ve never been rock climbing. It might be fun in a gym.. maybe… lol. I’m usre I would’ve done it a lot better as a kid. Actually, I did some climbing walls as a kid. And I remember beating my older brother. My #1 goal in life as a middle child. Haha.

Peanut butter on sweet potatoes? I’ve got to try that! I actually like Chris the best! He seems to be the most genuine about his feelings for her. Sean seems like a tool to me! And did I hear right at one point he said he’s been married 3 times?? Yipe!

    • notsodomesticated

Sean?? Nooo … I don’t think he’s been married at all. Maybe you’re mixing him up with someone?

  13. Cinnamon @ eatpraytri

i would say cream cheese frosting for sure although I wouldn’t turn butter cream away. I don’t think I have been rock climbing b/c I worry that I don’t have the upper body strength to even get 1/4 of the way up the wall. I don’t watch the Bachelorette but I like Sean. LOL.

It looks like you had a great time with the girls and Brandon! I used to rock climb all the time during my childhood– but sadly I don’t think I ever even made it half-way up the wall.. haha!

And by the way, those flowers grow in your backyard!?! WOW! All I get is weeds!!
