Well it’s about 8:45 a.m. as I’m typing this, and Brandon and I have already been up for more than 3 hours. Needless to say, he wasn’t too thrilled with my 5:30 a.m. wake up call. But I knew that the Florida heat and humidity would kill
us me if we didn’t get out there early enough!
Let me back up a little. First of all, Brandon got in to town yesterday afternoon. And all of us were happy to see him…
… especially Sophie.
After sending a few emails for work (Brandon, not me) and a quick clothing change, we headed out to run a few errands. One of those errands was going to…
Fit 2 Run!
As I posted about earlier this week, I visited Fit 2 Run and they told me that I needed a bigger size running shoe. So this time, I brought Brandon with me to get a second opinion.
The guy that helped me said that I definitely needed to go up a size or two. Additionally, he had me run on the treadmill in my current shoes, and he was able to videotape me and show me how I overpronate… even in a pair of shoes that gives me support!
So I tried on a bunch of other pairs of shoes, and I was able to try each pair out by running around the store’s indoor track.
My final decision:
I bought one of the dorkiest pairs of running shoes that I’ve ever seen. From the ankles down, I feel like I’m much older than my 27 years.
But I’m OK with that, if they help. They’re a size 9 (my last pair was a size 8), and they have a ton of support.
To compare, the grey section on the bottom of my Asics is the area of support. It’s somewhere around the middle of my foot.
In comparison, practically the whole bottom part of the new shoes has extra support.
Side by side comparison:
In addition to getting run shoes, we also picked up a couple pizzas at Monty’s Pizza. So we spent the rest of the night relaxing on the couch and munching on pizza.
But it wasn’t exactly a romantic evening…
… because someone decided that she needed a little lovin’ too.
So fast forward to this morning. And as I mentioned before, I got Brandon up at 5:30 to run (good thing he likes me).
And we ran for 7 miles! 7 miles in the Florida humidity!
I tried taking a picture of myself after the run, but it just wasn’t pretty. I like my readers too much to subject all of you to that sweaty mess (you’re welcome).
So how were the new shoes? I think they helped! It definitely seemed like I wasn’t turning in as much. The top of my right foot was hurting a bit, but I think it’s because I had the chip for my Nike Sports band on the top of my shoe (see the pic above)… so I always tie the laces tighter on that shoe. Next time I’ll try to remember to loosen them up a bit.
After showers and breakfast (I had some of my leftover Blueberry Oatmeal pancakes… yum!), we’re getting ready to head to the beach! Have a great day, everyone!!
