My circuit workout … followed by a hamburger.

Happy Friday, everyone!!!  Smile
So my blogger buddy, Lindsay, has started this new weekly posting called “FLOW” (Fitness Loves of the Week).  The concept is that other bloggers post about a workout they’ve done that week, or have seen, or have used in the past, and then link their post to Lindsay’s blog.
Normally, I’m pretty boring with my workouts, so I wasn’t sure how often I would be able to participate.  But it just so happens that this week, I actually mixed things up a little with a circuit workout! Thumbs up
This workout could be done at the gym, or at home if you own a set of dumbbells!  The idea is to keep yourself moving and keep your heart rate up, while also giving your muscles a good workout!
Circuit #1:
  • Bicep curls – 10-12 reps

  • Bent over rows – 12-14 reps

(Repeat circuit 3 times!!)

Circuit #2:

  • Tricep dips on the bench – 10-12 reptricep dip

  • Shoulder press with dumbbells – 10-12 reps

  • Walking lunges with 5 lb dumbbells – walk one direction for 10 steps, then turn around and repeat

(Repeat circuit 3 times!!)

I also started and ended my workout on the treadmill, doing 10-15 minutes of fast-paced walking, and changing up the incline every few minutes.

This workout definitely got my heart racing, and left my legs feeling like rubber the next day! Smile

And then for good measure, the day after my workout, I met these ladies …

… for dinner at EO Burgers.

(Those pictures are from this summer, by the way.  Hence the sunglasses and short-sleeved shirts.  I was too busy eating to take pictures the other day. Smile with tongue out)

A massive burger and herb-rubbed fries.  And enough ketchup to cover a small child.  I think this meal may have voided out my awesome circuit-workout, but it was still very, very worth it. Winking smile

Question for ya …

Do you enjoy doing circuit workouts?  What are your favorite exercises to incorporate?

Whatcha up to this weekend?

What do you put on your burger?

Personally, I’m a fan of just pickle and ketchup!

I LOVE honey mustard, but I don’t think I’ve ever had it on my burger! I gotta try that!

  4. Michelle @ Our Dream, Made Out of Real Things

Your burger and fries look mouth-watering; which is kind of sad since I haven’t even eaten breakfast yet :)

My fav thing to put on a burger is lettuce, avocado, mustard, fried egg (weird I know), and ketchup. Onion rings don’t hurt either, but I’m afraid it would be near impossible for me to even take a bite out of it because of it’s massiveness.

I’ve heard that the fried egg thing is good, but I’ve never tried it before!

That circuit looks awesome and is totally do-able at home which I love!
Those fries looks soo good they are making me hungry. I’m the same with burgers…as I have gotten older, the less I want on them…cheese, pickles and maybe some mustard, squish and eat! Happy girl.

I LOVE circuit workouts!!! I actually did a great circuit this morming that I’m posting about tonight – thanks to your post I now know about Lindsay’s idea and will link to her blog. Thank you! My favorite moves to include are pushups (all variations), box jumps, and windmills (Pilates abs move).

I love putting “weird” things on my burgers as well as the usual condiments. Avocados, caramelized onions and jalapenos, and laughing cow cheese are some of my favorites!

First and foremost, I love that you had a burger after – that’s why I exercise – so that I can eat what I want! :) Personally, I prefer nothing on my burger. Just meat and bun, and perhaps a little cheese.

As for circuits, I used to just run and I thought that was getting in a good workout, but I recently started incorporating circuits into my weekly workouts, and I am (1) enjoying it and (2) I can tell that it is helping with my running and my body strength! And, ps…I love your post, inclusive of pictorials because half of the time I don’t actually know what the circuit moves I am doing are actually named!
