Good morning, friends!
Hope everyone had a nice weekend!
On Saturday, Brandon and I decided to brave the mall as a family for the first time. We left immediately after one of Addie’s feedings, in order to hopefully give us a couple of hours before she needed to be fed again. The good news is, we were both able to find some things we wanted at Von Maur. But then we pushed our luck and tried to shop in some other stores. Addie often fights sleep when we’re out anywhere, so she wasn’t sleeping and quickly got cranky.
Oh well. “A” for effort, right?
For those who are interested in this kind of thing, I thought I’d share what a typical day looks like for us right now. Like I mentioned before, we’re using the schedule from the “Moms on Call” book. The schedule changes based on the baby’s age, and there’s some flexibility in the schedule. But here’s a “normal” day for us right now:
Between 6-7 am: Addie wakes up and is fed and burped.
7ish-9 am: She usually goes back to sleep, but sometimes gets placed in her swing while mom gets ready for the day.
9:00 am: Addie is fed and burped.
9:30 am: Addie and mommy go for a walk around the neighborhood.
10ish: Addie gets swaddled back up and goes down for a nap.
12:00 pm: Addie is fed and burped.
12:30 pm: She does tummy time and we read a couple of books.
1:00 pm: Addie gets swaddled back up and goes down for another nap.
3:00 pm: Addie is fed and burped.
3:30 pm: I may put her in her vibrating chair or swing and just talk to her for a while. Or more tummy time.
4:00 pm: Addie gets swaddled back up and goes down for another nap.
5:30 pm: Addie is fed and burped.
6:00 pm: Addie goes for another walk (this time with mommy and daddy).
6:30 pm-8pm: She may or may not sleep well during this time. If she doesn’t, we’ll hold her or put her in her swing to doze.
8ish: Bath time! (This is probably our favorite time of the day. Brandon and I both try to participate, and she loves her baths!)
8:30 pm: Last feeding of the night!
9:00 pm: Addie is swaddled and put to bed.
3:00-3:30 am: Usually around this time, Addie wakes up for a feeding. She’s fed, burped, and put back to sleep.
4:00 am – 6 or 7 am: Addie sleeps some more.
And that’s our normal day!
If I have to go anywhere with her (like the store, or to meet a friend), I try to do it right after a feeding, when she’s most content.
As you can see, she still sleeps a lot right now!
During her naps, I do a variety of things … laundry, cleaning, cooking, blogging, Bible study, checking emails, paying bills, making grocery lists … etc. etc.
When Addie wakes up from her naps, she is at her CUTEST. She does these big stretches that I think are just adorable!
(If you’re curious, the blanket she’s laying on is her swaddle blanket. I had just unwrapped her from it!)
Hope at least one person finds that interesting and/or useful. Personally, I’ve been asking my friends with children lots of questions about their schedules recently, so I figured if it’s a subject that’s of interest to me, it may interest some of you!
And finally, the winner of the Moms on Call book giveaway …
