This weekend was another definite winner!
On Friday, my mom arrived in to town.
(The only picture you’ll see of my mom, since she despises getting her picture taken!)
After showing her around our new house (which she loved!), we headed to Suwanee Town Center for some Mellow Mushroom pizza.
To start, my mom and I split a delicious Caesar salad.
Then the three of us split the Funky Q Chicken Pizza …
… which included BBQ chicken, mozzarella and cheddar cheese, caramelized onions, apple-wood smoked bacon, and a BBQ sauce swirl.
The pizza was amazing (as always), and I could have easily thrown back two or three slices… but I knew we still had frozen yogurt to hit up!
While we were waiting for our pizza to digest, we explored an adorable boutique that was completely catered to man’s best friend: the dog.
We saw doggy boxer-shorts …
… doggy evening wear …
… and even a doggy bikini!
Absolutely hilarious. I can’t imagine spending $40 on a shirt for my (nonexistent) dog, when I don’t even spend that on myself!
Next up was frozen yogurt!
My cup is the middle one. I had a mixture of cookies and cream, peanut butter, and cake batter yogurt, topped with Oreo, white chocolate chips, cookie dough pieces, and marshmallow topping. Tasty, as always!
On Saturday, my mom and I spent the morning shopping for house-related items.
My favorite buy was the shower curtain for one of our guest bathrooms:
Maybe I’m crazy, but I think it’s adorable!
Saturday evening, we headed to a wine tasting at Chateau Élan.
Brandon and I had done the wine tasting once before, and we knew my mom would really enjoy it.
We had a few new friends greet us on our way inside.
Baby birdies! How cute are they?!
After the wine tasting, we took my mom out for a late Mothers’ Day dinner at Aqua Terra.
And since we ate with the senior citizens at 5:30, there was no wait!
I started my meal with a light and refreshing glass of white wine sangria.
I then decided to order off of their three-course menu.
For $25, you get an appetizer, entrée, and dessert … but they’re all smaller portions of their normal dishes. It ends up being the perfect amount of food!
For my appetizer, I chose the Potato Egg Roll.
It was an egg roll stuffed with potatoes, pepper-jack cheese, and bacon. It was served with scallion sour cream and sriracha.
This may have been my favorite part of the meal. It was delicious!
For an entrée, I had the barbequed pork tenderloin with creamy smoked Gouda polenta, country coleslaw, and crispy shoe string sweet potatoes.
If I had more privacy, I would have been licking that polenta off the plate. It was that good.
For my mom’s entrée, she chose the grilled shrimp with lobster mac and cheese and grilled asparagus.
And Brandon selected the honey-glazed salmon.
For dessert, I had the warm apple blossom with vanilla ice cream and caramel sauce.
The entire dinner (and the entire day!) was a major homerun!
This is how their website explains the restaurant:
“Farm Burger wants you to think about your burger – what it is and where it’s from. Our burgers are made from 100% grassfed beef that is dry-aged and ground fresh. Our cows are raised on the sweet grasses of the southeast, and never fed antibiotics, hormones, or grain. Our menu is seasonal and sourced from local farms. Our space is convivial and comfortable – because eating is a celebration to be shared. Our food makes ethical eating easy.”
My mom got a regular burger, while Brandon chose the number 6 and I chose the number 4.
We also split a side of fries and onion rings.
And, of course, I had to try one of their yummy-sounding milkshakes.
I loved my burger. It was very moist and all of the toppings made it super flavorful. I also loved the milkshake, but I couldn’t really taste the balsamic reduction. Brandon also enjoyed his burger, but it wasn’t quite big enough for his appetite.
The rest of the weekend was spent working on the house, watching movies, and relaxing. All in all, it was the perfect weekend with family!
Next up … Brandon’s parents are coming in to town this coming weekend! Hooray for family visits!
Question for ya …
What did you do this weekend?
Which of the burgers listed (if any) would you have picked?
Ever left a restaurant feeling less than full due to smaller portions?
