Hi gang!! ![]()
How was everyone’s weekend? Mine was awesome!
I started my Friday with this surprise on my doorstep at the hotel front desk.
Sarah from The Smart Kitchen sent me a super cool Salad Spinner! It’s pretty and green and I’m so excited about winning her giveaway! Thanks, Sarah!!
Then on Friday night, Brandon and I enjoyed a tasty slow-cooker meal in the hotel room (recipe to come on Wednesday!). About 30 seconds later, we were craving something sweet.
Atlanta Frozen Yogurt Shop #3: Yogli Mogli. I had a mix of cake batter and cookies & cream frozen yogurt, topped with waffle cone pieces, Oreo, cookie dough, and marshmallow cream.
Yogli Mogli Pro:
-Lots of topping choices (including cereal like Fruity Pebbles!)
Yogli Mogli Con:
-The girl working at the register had to stop what she was doing to come over and get you a sample. Evidently they don’t trust people with the sample cups at this particular store. Sad.
Overall, I was a fan, and I have no doubt that we will be spending plenty of time at Yogli Mogli this summer. ![]()

On Saturday, Brandon and I finally went to one of the restaurants I’ve been wanting to try since moving to Atlanta.
(I’ll explain why I’m holding a paper man on another day … that’s going to be a whole other post.
)
If anyone else loves Top Chef as much as I do, then you know who Richard Blais is.
(Source)
He was the runner-up on his season of Top Chef, and then he ended up winning Top Chef Masters.
Well now he owns Flip Burger, and I’ve been dying to try the place out!
Our new friends, Shannon and Todd, joined us for the evening.
Here’s a sample of their menu:
Burgers …
and sides.
Pretty unique choices, right?
I opted for the Blackened Shrimp Burger. As my side, I chose the vodka battered onion rings with beer mustard.
I think my favorite part of my burger was the fried lemon on top. It was so unique and paired perfectly with the shrimp!
(Again, just ignore the little man between us …)
Brandon got the “RBQ” burger, which was a burger topped with pulled brisket, and he said it was pretty amazing. Sorry, no pictures. I was too busy with my own meal. ![]()
We had also heard great things about Flip Burger’s milkshakes, so of course, we all had to partake.
Brandon got the Strawberry Shortshake milkshake …
… while Todd chose the Krispy Kreme milkshake.
I got to taste them both, and they were incredible. The strawberry tasted just like Strawberry Nesquick! And the Krispy Kreme milkshake was like sipping a donut through a straw! Our waitress told us that they use a whole Krispy Kreme glazed donut in every milkshake. I knew I wanted to visit this place for a reason! ![]()
And is anybody surprised by my milkshake of choice?
Nutella + burnt marshmallow? Game over. I was in a sugar coma of pure bliss.
And something that my camera couldn’t adequately capture? All of the milkshakes are served topped with liquid nitrogen, so they come to the table smoking! It’s so cool!
All in all, I was definitely satisfied with my Top Chef experience.
But this actually wasn’t my first Top Chef experience …
A few summers ago, I had the opportunity to attend a cooking presentation by LeeAnn and Sam from Top Chef!
And since I wasn’t even dating Brandon at the time, taking copious pictures of Sam was perfectly acceptable. ![]()
Hehe. ![]()
I don’t remember everything we ate, but I do remember my favorite dish:
Scallops with pesto sauce and watermelon. It was so good!
My friend, Pamela, is an even bigger foodie than I am, so we had an incredible time at this event. If you ever have the opportunity to attend a Publix Cooking School celebrity event, I highly recommend that you try it out!
Well that was my weekend! Now tell me about yours!!
Question for ya …
What did you do this weekend?
Are you a Top Chef fan? Have any favorite contestants?
Richard Blais was definitely a favorite of mine, so I was super excited to try his restaurant.
Ever attend a cooking class? How was your experience?

I absolutely LOVE reading your blog. I read it everyday. Lol. I knew I just HAD to post on this particular entry though, because I like to think of myself as a self proclaimed foodie as well. I love Richard, but SAM has always been my favorite in all of Top Chef history!! Haha.
As for the food at Flip Burger, I would have definitely gone with the Shrimp Burger, too!!
Yay, thank you SO much for commenting, girl!
Sam has always been one of my faves, too! He’s just so cute haha!!
I’m such a sucker for milkshakes. I was keen to read this post simply because the word milkshake was in the title haha. I’d be intrigued to see what the cap’n crunch one tastes like. Want to try it and report back?

All of that food looks so delicious! And did someone send you a Flat Stanley
?
You’re so smart!!
A friend from Ohio asked if her daughter could send it to me, because they wanted to send it to someone out of state haha!
Aw, that’s cute
. I made a Flat Stanley when I was in elementary school, and Jordan’s 8-year-old cousin recently made one too!

Oh wow! What an awesome experience! I agree that the fried lemon on top of your shrimp burger sounds so unique and would pair great with shrimp! Krispy Kreme milkshake? With a whole donut?! Holy moly that sounds insane! (And delicious!)

Hi! I’m a teacher, so I’m pretty sure I recognize your new friend as Flat Stanley! Hope I’m right and I’m going to attempt to make my own Krispy Kreme milkshake. Wish me luck!
JJ, you need to make one immediately and then let me know how it turns out!!!
(And yes, you’re right on Flat Stanley haha!)
Um, I would LOVE that restaurant! And those shakes…oh yes
. I haven’t ever attended a cooking class although I probably should before Chris and I get married so I can get some more skills haha. Have a great Monday love!

That milkshake looks delicious! I’ve made toasted marshmallow milkshakes before, but I never even considered the possibility of adding Nutella…may have to try that!
Yummmmm nutella and marshmallows. *Sigh*
Oh I know … I seriously want one every day now. Thank goodness the restaurant is a good 30 minutes away from where I live!
I bet a similar at home version could be made?
A Krispy Kreme milkshake? Oh my, talk about a sugar high! haha I’m very intrigued by the little man!!

Oh and you should see how many pics of Sam I actually have on my computer. Ridiculous!
First off, you and your hubs make a super cute couple! Secondly, what is it with husbands and strawberry milkshakes?!? Mine would’ve ordered that one two. Thirdly, I’m going to come to ATL just to try that Nutella and burnt marshmallow shake! *OMG*

HOW COOL you got to eat there! I religiously watch top chef each season and Richard was always one of my favorites! I think it’s awesome that you were able to eat there, and I say nice work on your choices! That milkshake you chose, there are no words

I have not been to Flip Burger yet, but I have been to Richard Blais’ other restaurant: HD1. Have you heard of it? It was definitely different! For another excellent milkshake from a “gourmet” burger restaurant, I would also recommend the Salted Caramel milkshake at 5 Napkin Burger.
My favorite cooking show experience to date has been witnessing a Battle of the Chefs in Boston, where my foodie dreams basically came true and I was asked to be a guest judge! The audience, however, did not agree with my food feedback…. (I will have to tell you the whole story in person sometime!)
Hahaha I need to hear this story!! It sounds right up my alley!
Is HD1 in Atlanta? Thanks for the tip about 5 Napkin Burger … perhaps that will have to be the site of a double date in the future??
Yes, it is in Atlanta right near my neighborhood (Virginia Highlands). It is basically like Flip Burger but with hot dogs (made of all kinds of ingredients, including vegetarian options and healthier meat combinations). And that sounds great to me!
sounds like you had such a fun weekend. i’m so jealous that you got to try Flip burger – I need to do that next time i”m in Atlanta!
