Well, another weekend has come and gone.
Crazy how quickly it happens, isn’t it?
This weekend was a fun one. On Saturday morning, we woke up early and headed to Columbus for the Ohio State/Indiana game!
The game was at 1pm, but we wanted to get there earlier to take in all of the game-day festivities …
… which mostly consisted of getting squished in between large football fans and listening to Coolio’s “Gangsta’s Paradise” blaring from large speakers.
Right up my alley, huh? ![]()
But what was more up my alley?
The food, of course.
Brandon’s “breakfast of champions” included an (overpriced) bratwurst at 10am.
While I decided to partake in something a little sweeter …
… a cream-puff the size of my head.
Anyone watch “Man vs. Food?” Schmidt’s Restaurant and Sausage Haus was featured on the show a while back.
Their claim to fame?
Gigantic cream puffs.
You would think super-sizing a pastry like this would negatively affect the taste. But oh no. This beauty tastes ah-mazing. Light and airy with the perfect ratio of cream to pastry. Heaven.
And P.S. This isn’t the first time I’ve enjoyed one of these …
This was taken back in June the day after a friend’s wedding. What can I say … I like my sweets. ![]()
Anyways, after enjoying our snacks ….
… and forcing asking Brandon to pose for a few pictures, it was time to head to the stadium!
We got there just in time to see the “dotting of the I,” which evidently is a big thing at Ohio State.
It was a perfect day for football … a little chilly but with plenty of sunshine!
It was also a neat day to be at the stadium, because they recognized the armed forces during the game.
The game itself was a little nerve-wracking, as the Buckeyes weren’t playing their best game.
But no worries … I kept Brandon occupied during the “hairy” moments by forcing him to partake in more picture taking. ![]()
Fortunately, Ohio State pulled it out for a win.
Final score, OSU 34 – Indiana 20. ![]()
After the game, we met up with some of Brandon’s old college buddies.
We had a really good time catching up with them. We also got a kick out of watching college kids act … well, like you would expect college kids to act on game day!
(Let’s just say that some of them probably woke up feeling pretty silly on Sunday morning …
)
Eventually we headed out and back home. But we both definitely enjoyed our day at “The Horseshoe!”
Next up? I think Brandon needs to experience the Swamp …

… don’t you? ![]()
Question for you …
What did you do this weekend?
Have a favorite football team? Which team?
What’s your favorite game-day food??
Mine isn’t normally a giant cream puff, but it definitely worked for me on Saturday!
Normally, I like more traditional foods, like pizza or buffalo chicken dip!!

Haha wow that cream puff looks intense! I honestly don’t think I’ve ever tried one in my life, but hey– if Man v. Food promotes it, I probably would too

I love everything about tailgating and college football games… the atmosphere, junk food, beer, friends, tailgating games, etc. Your Gators & my Gamecocks will be up against each other this weekend in SC… good luck friend

Seriously, the cream puff is the bomb. Maybe that’s where you and I need to meet over Christmas break!
Oh I would be totally down for that!
We went to Baylor University Homecoming 2011 festivities. It consisted of a bonfire, parade, and a fun game. We are huge Baylor fans, obviously. We usually like dips for game-day food. I make an artichoke dip that is pretty good and easy.
