Well, I’m writing this post on Tuesday night, so I have no idea what happened with the election. But I can say that I voted (I actually did the early voting thing about 2 weeks ago). And now, I am just trusting in my God, because He is ultimately the one in control! ![]()
So now, let’s talk about something we can all agree upon … our love for food!

As always, Jenn is the host of this par-tay.
Breakfast:
A whole-wheat bagel with pumpkin cream cheese. I had a glass of water and a glass of organic chocolate milk on the side.
Lunch:
Another pregnant friend, who is also having a sudden love for burgers and other unhealthy treats, recommended that Brandon and I try Grindhouse Killer Burgers after church on Sunday.
She told us that the sweet potato kettle chips were a must-try item.
They were served with a hot bleu cheese dip. Usually I won’t go anywhere near bleu cheese, but this dip tasted more like a spicy ranch. I was a fan.
For my burger, I chose the “Cowboy Style,” which had cheddar cheese, thick cut bacon, an onion ring, and BBQ sauce.
I also may have had a chocolate peanut butter milkshake to help wash it all down. ![]()
No, not the healthiest meal. But we certainly don’t eat like this every day. And it was worth every. bit. of fat and calories. The burger was juicy and flavorful, and I could taste all of the toppings in every bite. Delicious. ![]()
Snacks
After our massive lunch, neither one of us got hungry until around 8:00 that night. And even then, I barely had an appetite. So rather than forcing down a huge dinner, I just snacked.
Grapes, yogurt, and leftover ranch dip with veggies. I’d say that balances out the burger and shake, right? ![]()

And speaking of that dip, I wanted to share the recipe with you guys.
Cheddar Bacon Ranch Dip
(modified from this recipe)
Note: My ingredient list serves a large group of people. It makes about 6 cups of dip. So if you are serving a smaller crowd, you might want to cut the recipe in half!
Ingredients:
- 1 (16 oz) container full-fat sour cream
- 1 (16 oz) container light sour cream
- 2 (1 ounce) packages dry Ranch-style dressing mix
- 1.5 cups sharp cheddar cheese
- 10 slices of bacon, cooked and crumbled
- several stems of green onion, chopped (optional, but makes it pretty!)
Directions:
- Combine sour cream and dry Ranch mix in a large bowl.
- Add cheddar cheese and crumbled bacon. Mix together.
- Stir some of the green onion into the mix. Before serving, add the rest of the green onion on top for garnish.
I served this dip with vegetables and potato chips. Everyone seemed to love it, and I’ve been snacking on the leftovers all week! I will definitely make this one again!
Question for ya …
Did you vote?
Best thing you’ve eaten this week?
Which side would you have chosen at Grindhouse: sweet potato chips, onion rings, French fries, or fried pickle chips??
Favorite kind of chip or vegetable dip?

Mmmm, that burger looks good. Actually, so does the veggies and dip. And the grapes. And everything else. Apparently I’m just super hungry this morning – i should probably eat before I start reading food blogs!

Haha reading food blogs is dangerous when you’re hungry!
Some days you just definitely need that burger! I talked my hub into going to 5 guys Subday (real hard to do, let me tell you!) and it was worth every dingle bite! I most definitely voted! No mater how the election turned out, I am definitely happy that I did my part!

mmm I am craving a bagel so bad lately! I might have to get one this weekend! {especially with that pumpkin cream cheese yummy!} Now onto that dip my fiance would loveeeeee it! I has all of his favorite things all in one!
I am definitely making that dip soon. And I love Killer Burger. My favorite is a “Dixie Style” veggie burger, which comes with a fried green tomato and pimento cheese-it is really delicious! I have never tried the sweet potato chips, though, so thanks for the tip.
I was going to try the Dixie Burger! I was debating between that and the Cowboy, but the waiter said his favorite was the Cowboy, so I went with that. I’ll have to try the Dixie next time!
Ahhhhhh!!!! PBR in the background! My husband would approve.

I was hoping you would post the recipe for this. I wonder how substituting greek yogurt would taste (instead of the full fat sour cream?) I might have to try it. I totally voted and agree with you wholeheartedly…we know who is in control. What a great feeling!!

If you sub out the sour cream for greek yogurt, let me know how it tastes! I think it’s a good idea!
Oh my dear goodness, that burger looks like it’s to die for! Heck, that entire meal sounds amazing… I’m not sure which I’d choose – I’m all about everything salty these days!

Hmmm… When I wasn’t allergic to basically everything in them, peanut butter milkshakes were my favorite! Our local dairy bar made the best pb shakes ever. So thick and sweet. Yum.
I love kettle chips, but I’ve never heard of a sweet potato version. I’m sure they were great! My favorite chip and dip combo growing up was Regular potato chips with onion dip. So good.
I probably would have chosen the onion rings though. Fries have never been my favorite and I absolutely detest pickles. Lol.
