This morning I was scheduled to do my long run for the week. This week it was 6 miles. After not feeling completely great during my shorter runs on Tuesday and Thursday, I wasn’t sure how I was going to feel today.
But I felt great! I finally strapped on my iPod (this is the first time I’ve run with it on) and turned it to a local station playing the Top 40. And I think the music helped a lot… it’s a good distraction to keep your mind off of how uncomfortable you might be feeling.
The first couple of miles are always harder for me because it seems to take my body a while to warm up. But after that, I felt awesome.
According to my Nike Sports Band, these were my splits:
I know all of the runners out there are probably scoffing at my slow pace right now, but hey, I’m a newbie. So I’m happy with this.
I’m so happy in fact, that I’m allowing you to get a niiicccee close-up of my sweaty, make-up free face. Enjoy.
When I got back, I iced my knees, stretched and make myself a nice breakfast treat.
Whole grain Eggo waffles with peanut butter and a little warm syrup. Yum.
And now, I get to clean. A lot. Because good news… we have a house showing today!!
Oh yeah, I don’t think I’ve written about this yet. For those who don’t know, we have our house in Wapakoneta for sale. Although I do love Wapakoneta (I hope I expressed that clearly in my post yesterday!), it’s a very long commute to work for me each day. Specifically, it’s just under 3 hours per day of driving. Fun fun.
Fortunately, I have the summer off, so I’m saving on gas right now (Yahooo!!). And I’m excited to say that Brandon got a call last night about showing the place today. So now I’m going to get myself into “Cinderellie” mode (that’s what Brandon and I sing when I’m cleaning. Yes, we’re nerds.), and I’m going to make this house sparkle!
OK, I better hit it. Have a wonderful Saturday!! And please stop by later… I’m going to be posting another recipe for some sweet treats!
