A mani, a pedi… and a fro-yo?

Good morning!  Hope everyone’s week is going well so far.  I’m still loving being in Florida and spending time with friends and family! :)

I had planned on writing last night, but I was tooo exhausted after a long, but very fun day.

I started out going to a local nail salon with my mom and sister-in-law.  My mom had gotten some coupons in the mail for $20 pedicures, which we were pretty excited about.  Funny thing is, we eventually realized that their pedicures always cost $20, so I’m not quite sure the point of their “coupons.”

Another thing I found interesting… as we were sitting down in our pedicure chairs, we were offered frozen yogurt.

Yep, froze yogurt.  At a nail salon.

This reminds me of the dentist I went to recently who gave me a chocolate chip cookie at the end of my appointment.  Now I’m not complaining because it was a pretty awesome cookie, but does anyone else find that a little unusual?

I’m wondering what’s going to be next… baklava at your OBGYN?

Anyways, we politely declined the frozen treat and continued on with our relaxing treatments.

I tried to relax with a silly girly magazine, but I was surprised at how trashy this particular issue really was.  I didn’t realize that I had picked up the “Hot Issue” until later… oops! :P   The only thing I found interesting was the article on Kim Kardashian (I find her and her whole family fascinating.. am I the only one?).

After getting some advice on nail color from all of you yesterday, I ended up going with runningismagical’s suggestion:

runningismagical says:

“I’m really like the greens this summer…teals, jade, mint green…OPI has the BEST colors!”

I liked the idea of trying something new, so I went with green. :)

However, I probably went with too bright of a green… I think I look like a 15-year old teenage girl! ;)   I know that neon colors are supposed to be very “in” right now, but I’m not sure if I can pull it off.  Thoughts?

At any rate, we had a great time and enjoyed every minute of being pampered. :)

Next up, my mom and I headed to Panera to meet a few friends.

Pamela, Cindy, Samantha, and me

(Sidenote: in case you’re wondering, my mom doesn’t like being in pictures.  So that’s why she’s the “invisible woman” on this blog!)

At Panera, I met with Pamela, Cindy, and Samantha.

Pamela is one of the first close friends I made at my church in Sarasota.  She and I often did Bible studies together.  And she’s an AMAZING cook and baker, so I would often be invited over for delicious meals.  She now lives in Ft. Myers with her husband, Jeremy, and their little boy, Lucas.

Cindy (who had just come from work as a nurse) was a huge mentor for me while I was in Sarasota.  She’s the pastor’s wife, but also A LOT more than just that one title!  She’s fun, outgoing, honest, and loving.  We used to meet every Sunday before church at Panera for bagels and chatting.  She also was the wedding coordinator for my wedding!

And Samantha has the biggest heart of anyone you’ll ever meet.  She gives and gives and gives, without ever asking (or expecting) anything in return.  She helped plan practically my entire wedding.  Since I had moved to Ohio and the wedding was in Florida, she did all of the decorating and organizing for me.  I would have been a basketcase if it wasn’t for her!

So needless to say, I was super excited about this meeting.  First of all, it’s a miracle to actually find a time when all 3 ladies were available.  They all lead very busy lives and it’s difficult to pin them down for an extended period of time.  But I was also just excited because I had missed them so much!

We had a wonderful visit and caught up on each other’s lives.  We also shared a very tasty apple cinnamon muffin, because eating is just an essential part of all of our meetings. ;)

It was wonderful to see them and know that they are all doing well.  I have been very, very blessed to have all of them in my life.

We had a few more fun activities last night (including a delicious frozen treat), but more on that later.  I’m hungry and I think it’s time for some breakfast. ;)

Question for ya…

Who is someone that you feel blessed to have in your life, and why?
