The Broken Egg

Hi there! :)

So good news… the internet was fixed earlier than planned!  Yahoo!  Many thanks to the good people of Verizon for getting to my mom’s house a day earlier than predicted and fixing everything for her!

My mom’s whole life pretty much runs on the internet.  She is a real estate agent, plus she does marketing and creates websites for other realtors, PLUS she does work for my uncle… all via the internet.  So needless to say, we’re happy girls to have our technology back!

Anyways, this morning, I took Sophie for a walk through the park.  I was hoping that it was going to be a good workout for both of us, but Sophie isn’t a very good workout buddy.  She prefers sitting and sniffing to brisk walking.  But that’s OK, she’s still ridiculously cute.

our walk pooped her out

So since our walk didn’t really get my heart rate up, I came back to the house and jumped on the treadmill for another 30 minutes, while watching DVDs of old Gilmore Girls episodes.  I loved that show… anyone else?! ;)

After my workout, I got cleaned up to meet my friends for lunch.  But before going to the restaurant, I stopped by this store called “Fit 2 Run.”  I was looking into getting some insoles for my running shoes.  I think I overpronate pretty badly, so I want as much support as possible, to avoid all sorts of fun injuries.

This place ended up being super cool.  They have one machine that you stand on, and they can tell you which spots on your foot are getting the most pressure, what kind of arch you have, etc.  Then they videotape you while you run on a treadmill.  When they play the tape back in slow motion, they can show you how you are running.  And sure enough, I am definitely an overpronator.

But here’s the interesting part.  When the woman measured my foot, she said that I should be in a size 8.5 or 9 running shoe… but the guy who fitted me in Ohio for my current shoes put me in an 8.  I do think my shoes feel tight, but I never really thought that the size was too small, because I normally wear a 7.5 shoe (when I buy heels, flip flops, etc).

So now I’m all nervous that my shoes are too small and as I’m training for my half-marathon, my toenails are going to fall off or something.  Any runners have thoughts/opinions?  I plan to go back later this week when I can bring Brandon with me, to see what he thinks.  He’s always my voice of reason… if he thinks I really need different shoes, then I’ll believe it. ;)

So after getting freaked out at the running store, I headed to Broken Egg to meet my friends for lunch.

The Broken Egg is a really neat restaurant in Lakewood Ranch.  It has delicious food, plus, Dick Vitale hangs out there all of the time (if you aren’t a sports fanatic, that name might not mean as much).  It’s such a great place that Brandon and I even ate there the day after our wedding, before heading to the Tampa airport for our honeymoon. :)

Today I met up with Desiree, Julie, and Nicole.  I went to graduate school at University of Florida with all three of them.  Desiree was matron-of-honor in my wedding, and all three have been awesome friends.

Desiree brought her daughter, Alex, to lunch.  And they had exciting news to share… Alex had just taken her first steps that morning!  Go Alex!! :)

Nicole also brought her new baby boy, Grayden.  He’s less than 8 weeks old and still SO teeny-tiny!!

Grayden slept for most of our lunch, but we pinched him to wake him up so that we could take a few pictures (just kidding about the pinching! ;) ).

In between baby talk, we also got to talk about Julie’s upcoming wedding.  She’s smack-dab in the middle of wedding planning, and I think she’s starting to feel the heat!

I don’t think anyone knows how stressful wedding planning is until they begin the crazy process.  But when it’s all said and done, the planning is completely worth it for that special day! :)

Of course we didn’t just talk at the Broken Egg… we also ate!  And I had a delicious lunch!

It was a Cuban sandwich with sweet potato waffle fries… yum!!  And we also got free cookies for dessert.  Score! ;)

Great afternoon with great friends!!  And now my mom and I are taking Sophie to the dog park, so she can see all of her doggie friends.  So I’m sure you’ll be seeing some pictures of that experience tomorrow!

Have a great evening!  And for all of you reality TV nuts, don’t forget to watch “The Bachelorette” tonight!!

Question for ya…

If you didn’t have internet access for an entire week, what website would you miss viewing the most?
