Annnnd it’s Monday again. Funny how quickly that happens, isn’t it? ![]()
Today I thought it would be fun to catch everyone up on the rest of my week in Florida.
Wednesday:
- Got to visit with my BIL, SIL, and two adorable nieces. No pictures were taken … too busy catching up! ![]()
- Went to a wine tasting at the Rosa Fiorelli Winery.
It’s a very small winery, but they do free wine tasting, and we actually got to learn about the wine from the wine-maker himself!
That’s Antonio. My new Italian friend. ![]()
All of the wines were really tasty, but I enjoyed the super-sweet dessert wines the best. They’ve even won gold medals for their dessert wines! Pretty cool!
Thursday:
- Lots of play time with Sophie.
She looks like a giant hot dog when she’s all spread out like that, doesn’t she?
- My mom and I were also planning on going on a sunset “party boat” that night, but it was sold out. So instead, we did the next best thing:
Ate custard!
I mentioned Sweet Berries in a post written back in the summer, but it’s worth mentioning again. If you’re ever in Sarasota, you need to go to Sweet Berries. They have the best frozen custard ever! I usually get their “Utterly Reese’s” sundae, but I practiced moderation and just went with vanilla mixed with Oreo this time. Such self-control I have.
Friday:
- On Friday, I had a very special visit from some very special relatives.
Ava and Marna … straight off the boat (or plane … whatever …) from England!
Ava is 8 years old and Marna is 3. They’re my second cousins, and pretty much the cutest things ever. Especially with their British accents. Everything sounds better with a British accent … don’t ya think?
We tried to take a whole family photo, but we couldn’t get that one perfect shot.
Joanna (to my right) is my cousin, and Stef (on the left) is the girls’ father. Have I mentioned before that my dad is from England? And I still have a ton of family over there? No? Well, now you know! Pretty cool, right??
Many thanks to Stef and Joanna for bringing the girls for a visit! I had a blast with them!
- After our visit, my mom and I went out to lunch and a movie.
We went to First Watch for lunch, and I ordered their “Veg’d Out” omelet, with zucchini, onions, tomatoes, broccoli, and red peppers. It also had Cheddar and Monterey Jack cheese. Rather than getting potatoes and an English muffin on the side, I opted for their dressed greens.
Everything was delicious, and I ate the entire thing. Yum.
We then went to see “Mirror Mirror.”

I think I enjoyed it more than my mom did. Sure, it was a little cheesy, but it’s a movie primarily meant for kids. And I loved seeing Julia Roberts play a villain, rather than her usual “America’s sweetheart” role!
Saturday:
- I made the 7 hour drive back to Atlanta and was happily reunited with my husband. I had really missed him! Funny how close you get when you’re living together in a hotel room the size of a shoebox!
- Saturday night, we celebrated my return with my two favorite things: sushi and frozen yogurt!
We tried out this small sushi restaurant in Johns Creek called Sushi House.
It was completely empty when we got there, so I was a little concerned, but the sushi ended up being delicious.
For those who like sushi, this is what we ordered:
On the left – Philly Roll (Smoked salmon, cream cheese & avocado)
In the middle – Playboy (BBQ eel, salmon, crab masago, cream cheese and deep fried)
On the right – Georgia Bulldog (Chopped spicy scallop, topped with 1/2 white tuna and 1/2 tuna with crunch and spicy mayo)
Being a Gator girl, it was a little painful to order the “Georgia Bulldog” roll.
But I’m so glad we did … that roll was delicious. I could have eaten 10 of those rolls!
But of course, I had to save room for dessert!
We went to Menchie’s, and it was Brandon’s first time ever having self-serve yogurt! ![]()
My final combination: a mix of red velvet cake and cake batter, topped with s’more pieces, cookie dough, mini caramel cups, and marshmallow cream. Delicious.
Question for ya …
What did you do this weekend?
Does most of your family live near you, or in different states/countries?
What do you like to get in your omelets?
Favorite frozen yogurt toppings? Favorite frozen yogurt shop?
We have several in the area, and I feel that it is my duty to try them all and then report back which is best. You’re welcome.
