Hi gang!! ![]()
How was everyone’s weekend? Mine was awesome!
I started my Friday with this surprise on my doorstep at the hotel front desk.
Sarah from The Smart Kitchen sent me a super cool Salad Spinner! It’s pretty and green and I’m so excited about winning her giveaway! Thanks, Sarah!!
Then on Friday night, Brandon and I enjoyed a tasty slow-cooker meal in the hotel room (recipe to come on Wednesday!). About 30 seconds later, we were craving something sweet.
Atlanta Frozen Yogurt Shop #3: Yogli Mogli. I had a mix of cake batter and cookies & cream frozen yogurt, topped with waffle cone pieces, Oreo, cookie dough, and marshmallow cream.
Yogli Mogli Pro:
-Lots of topping choices (including cereal like Fruity Pebbles!)
Yogli Mogli Con:
-The girl working at the register had to stop what she was doing to come over and get you a sample. Evidently they don’t trust people with the sample cups at this particular store. Sad.
Overall, I was a fan, and I have no doubt that we will be spending plenty of time at Yogli Mogli this summer. ![]()

On Saturday, Brandon and I finally went to one of the restaurants I’ve been wanting to try since moving to Atlanta.
(I’ll explain why I’m holding a paper man on another day … that’s going to be a whole other post.
)
If anyone else loves Top Chef as much as I do, then you know who Richard Blais is.

He was the runner-up on his season of Top Chef, and then he ended up winning Top Chef Masters.
Well now he owns Flip Burger, and I’ve been dying to try the place out!
Our new friends, Shannon and Todd, joined us for the evening.
Here’s a sample of their menu:
Burgers …
and sides.
Pretty unique choices, right?
I opted for the Blackened Shrimp Burger. As my side, I chose the vodka battered onion rings with beer mustard.
I think my favorite part of my burger was the fried lemon on top. It was so unique and paired perfectly with the shrimp!
(Again, just ignore the little man between us …)
Brandon got the “RBQ” burger, which was a burger topped with pulled brisket, and he said it was pretty amazing. Sorry, no pictures. I was too busy with my own meal. ![]()
We had also heard great things about Flip Burger’s milkshakes, so of course, we all had to partake.
Brandon got the Strawberry Shortshake milkshake …
… while Todd chose the Krispy Kreme milkshake.
I got to taste them both, and they were incredible. The strawberry tasted just like Strawberry Nesquick! And the Krispy Kreme milkshake was like sipping a donut through a straw! Our waitress told us that they use a whole Krispy Kreme glazed donut in every milkshake. I knew I wanted to visit this place for a reason! ![]()
And is anybody surprised by my milkshake of choice?
Nutella + burnt marshmallow? Game over. I was in a sugar coma of pure bliss.
And something that my camera couldn’t adequately capture? All of the milkshakes are served topped with liquid nitrogen, so they come to the table smoking! It’s so cool!
All in all, I was definitely satisfied with my Top Chef experience.
But this actually wasn’t my first Top Chef experience …
A few summers ago, I had the opportunity to attend a cooking presentation by LeeAnn and Sam from Top Chef!
And since I wasn’t even dating Brandon at the time, taking copious pictures of Sam was perfectly acceptable. ![]()
Hehe. ![]()
I don’t remember everything we ate, but I do remember my favorite dish:
Scallops with pesto sauce and watermelon. It was so good!
My friend, Pamela, is an even bigger foodie than I am, so we had an incredible time at this event. If you ever have the opportunity to attend a Publix Cooking School celebrity event, I highly recommend that you try it out!
Well that was my weekend! Now tell me about yours!!
Question for ya …
What did you do this weekend?
Are you a Top Chef fan? Have any favorite contestants?
Richard Blais was definitely a favorite of mine, so I was super excited to try his restaurant.
Ever attend a cooking class? How was your experience?
