In the beginning, God created…
Oops, guess we don’t have to go quite that far back.
In all seriousness, Brandon and I haven’t even been together that long, so that title has just a hint boatload of saracasm associated with it.
The #1 question Brandon and I get asked all of the time is, “How did you meet?”, since he was living in Ohio and I was down in Florida at the time. So I thought I might save some time and answer that question for the masses (or two people who read this blog… whatever).
Brandon’s brother and his family live down in Florida and I attended the same church as they did.
In May of 2009, Brandon flew down from Ohio to visit Matt and the gang. During that visit, he was introduced to Carrie, the church’s preschool director. After Brandon flew back to Ohio, Carrie and Christi were talking about Brandon, and Carrie suggested that perhaps Brandon and I would get along (because who wouldn’t get along with this girl?
).
So Brandon’s sister-in-law, Christi, decided to play match-maker and spoke to me one day about how wonderful her brother-in-law was and how he was single and around my age (I’m actually a month older than Brandon… a fact that he likes to remind me about on a frequent basis). I suggested that he find me on Facebook and maybe we could get to be friends (let’s be honest… I think we both wanted to see pictures of each other before we made any rash decisions!).
Brandon did, in fact, add me on Facebook. And for about 3 months, we just emailed back and forth and occasionally talked on the phone. Neither of us believed that we would ever be more than friends… I think we were just entertaining each other for the time being.
Then in September, Brandon decided to fly down for Labor Day weekend to “see his nieces” (yeah, right, we all know that he was really wanting to meet ME!
). We hung out all weekend with his family, and I had absolutely no idea what he was thinking or if he was remotely interested in me. He likes to say that he was sitting back and just trying to figure me out (Good luck with that, buddy! Had no one ever told him how complicated the female species is?!).
He came to my birthday party, but I still couldn’t figure out if he was just being nice or if there was something more developing…
FINALLY on the day before he left, he took me out for dinner (sushi… yum!). After dinner, we sat on the beach and talked for hours. We both finally admitted that we were interested in each other and the rest, as they say is history…
And that’s “how we met.” Since a primary reason for starting this blog is to talk about life as a newlywed, I thought it was only fitting to take you back to the beginning of our story. Stay tuned, because I’ll be sharing some stories from our dating years months at a later date.
Inquiring minds want to know…
How did you meet YOUR significant other?

Tears, again, I say….tears… of joy, of course….I love to hear the story…(the pictures were a great touch
Aww I need to stop making you cry!
Love you!
I just shared that story with a friend today…Good thing God put that thought in my head!!!
Amen to that!!
Such a great story! Worth passing on to all girls who may have lost all hope
Love the story! Love the couple! And who is that other interesting chef next to LuAnn and Sam? LoL I think I was 4 or 5 months pregnant at the time! We had a lot of fun that night!
Haha yeah that was a really great experience… I would love to do another one of those classes! So fun!!
Haha I remember that picture from your birthday!!
Awwwh such a great story Kristen! I met my husband “the first time” while I was dating someone else at a birthday bash, thought he was a nice guy, but you know I was seeing someone else…. Well a couple years later, I met my husband for ” the second time” he started working where I was working and we would pick on each other at work like brother n sister … Well, come to find out later, he was asking co-workers about me and what not…one night we went out for drinks and we were talking for hrs…. and from that night on we knew we were interested in each other…

that’s a really cute story! I had a similar story like that with my ex, we did the distance thing for awhile too! I’m happy that you both are finally together now!
I just found your blog, very cute
. I met my boyfriend on a blind date! My best friend at the time was dating his cousin, and they set us up. Our first date was a double date with the couple that set us up. Over 2 1/2 years later…they are no longer together, I’m not really friends with that “best friend” anymore, and my boyfriend and I are still going strong. Everything happens for a reason
.
Hey Emily! Thanks for checking out my blog… I hope you’ll continue to visit! I just commented on yours. I love your post about weddings!!

Well I had been at Liberty Univ for a semester when Josh decided to come back to Liberty and he went through mutual friends of the guys living in his new dorm and he decided to add me on facebook…well I rejected him lol only cause I didn’t know who he was at first. Well a week or so later me and my girlfriends were eating dinner at the school cafeteria and he was sitting down at the end of our table so we invited him to sit with us and my friend Erika liked him instantly and I thought he was cool but I wasn’t looking to date anyone at the time. Well that weekend all my friends went to play games at our student center and my friend Kati stopped by and invited me to play and Josh ended up being there and we played “Boxers or Briefs” and “Apples to Apples” and Josh flirted with me the whole time very subtly and we ended up talking that night on AOL instant messenger (talk about a throwback!) and he ended up asking me out on date for the next night…
Aww and look where you are now!! Married with an adorable little boy. So cool.
