Happy Monday, everyone!
Today I’m going to be sharing “7 Facts” about myself. Brittany at “Itty Bits of Balance” tagged me with the “Blissful Blogger” award …
… which basically means that I share 7 facts about myself, and then tag 7 more bloggers to do the same!
Thanks to Brittany for the shout out!
1. I have a secret (now not-so secret) love for Taylor Swift songs.
The love isn’t for Taylor Swift herself, it’s just for her songs. Just felt the need to clarify.
My favorite song of hers is “Mean.” It’s so catchy, and the lyrics are really funny. And don’t we all know a person that fits the lyrics to that song?!
2. I used to have brown hair.
I’m naturally blonde (dirty blonde, if we really have to be specific …), but one summer, I decided to make a drastic change. I colored my hair a dark chocolate brown. I was trying to channel Cameron Diaz …
But let’s be honest … I’m not Cameron Diaz.
So instead, I looked more gothic than anything else. After a couple of months, I went back to the hairdresser and added some highlights. Eventually, it looked like this:
It was that color for about a year, and then I got sick of the upkeep (when you’re a blonde forcing yourself to be a brunette, your color quickly fades). I’ve been blonde for three years now. What do you think … should I go back to brunette??
3. I love foods that are meant for kids.
One of my favorites?
I know how horrible they are for you. I know how much sugar is in them and the complete lack of nutrients. But I still love them.
Last spring, when Brandon would travel for work, I would often eat a bowl of soup followed by 2 (or 4 … ) Pop-Tarts. I finally stopped because I knew I wasn’t getting enough nutrients in my daily meals. But for a period of time, life was a little more sweet.
4. I have multiple laughs.
I realize that most people have a “polite laugh” (i.e., “I don’t really think you’re funny but I’ll laugh anyway to be nice.”), an “awkward laugh” (i.e., “I don’t really know what to say right now because what you just said is so weird.”), and a “true laugh” (i.e., the kind of laugh you laugh when you’re watching a funny movie).
But I also have the “I’m laughing at the joke but I don’t really get it” laugh, the “I’m trying not to pee my pants” laugh, and the “I’m laughing so hard that I can’t breathe” laugh.
Brandon loves getting me to a point where my laugh almost disappears because I’m gasping for breath. I don’t usually laugh at movies or TV shows … even when I think they’re funny. It’s as if I’m laughing internally. But even just a certain look from Brandon can get me to the “gasping” point!
5. I am one of the least creative people I know.
My grandmother was an incredible artist. She could paint breathtaking pictures. And although she can no longer paint (due to poor eyesight), she continues to create beautiful gardens in her backyard year after year.
My mom was never an artist, but she was (and still is) extremely crafty. She can design Halloween costumes, assemble beautiful flower arrangements, and wrap a birthday gift better than Martha Stewart.
But sadly, I have inherited none of their talents.
I can’t even accessorize an outfit properly!! I usually have to ask a sales person or friend for help!
I can, however, balance a checkbook like nobody’s business. And I can organize a party, plan a vacation, and make a rockin’ “To-Do” list.
Can you tell what personality-type I am yet?
6. I have a major sweet tooth … like, major.
I know this fact doesn’t come as a shock to those who know me or read this blog. But here’s a funny story to go with this fact …
My senior year of college, I decided to eliminate all “white stuff” from my diet … meaning white sugar and flour, mostly. This may sound easy, but you would be shocked at how many food staples contain these ingredients.
After about a month of this “diet,” I went out one night with some friends. When we got back to our apartment (after midnight), I snuck back out of the apartment, walked to a local grocery store, and bought two bags of cookies (if I can remember properly, I believe they were Oreos and Pepperidge Farm Milano cookies). I then walked back towards the apartment, stuffing cookies in my face along the way (nice visual, huh?).
When I finally looked at my cell phone, I realized that my roommates had been calling me in a panic, trying to find out where I had gone. So I threw the rest of the cookies in a garbage can and returned home.
I tried to keep my little sugar “escapade” a secret, but it came out pretty quickly.
And since that experience, I have come to the conclusion that completely eliminating sweets from my diet is a bad idea. Everything in moderation, my friends.
7. If I had all the money in the world, I would choose to spend most of it traveling.
I love to travel. I love experiencing new places, eating new foods, and meeting new people.
Some of my favorite trips have been to:
- San Francisco and Napa Valley (my mom took me when I graduated college)
- New York City (once on Spring Break, once for a school psych conference)
(NYC cab with my friend, Desiree)
- Paris (another Spring Break trip)
- Chicago (with hubby this summer)
- Costa Rica (honeymoon)
And as of last night, husband and I are officially booked to go to Europe next summer! We are flying over to Barcelona, Spain, spending a couple of days in Barcelona, then going on a cruise that will take us to several cities in France (Provence, Nice) and Italy (Rome, Florence, Naples). I’m so excited to be able to share this experience with Brandon!
OK now it’s time for me to tag 7 more people. And I choose:
Kat @ Keep’n The Faith
Holly @ Greek Yogurt & Apple Slices
Janelle @ Running is Magical
Janae @ The Hungry Runner Girl
Courtney @ Sweet Tooth Sweet Life
Stefanie @ The New Healthy
Lindsay @ The Lean Green Bean
Question for ya …
Tell me something random about you! Can you relate to any of my random facts??
