Blissful Blogger: 7 Facts

Happy Monday, everyone! Smile

Today I’m going to be sharing “7 Facts” about myself.  Brittany at “Itty Bits of Balance” tagged me with the “Blissful Blogger” award …

… which basically means that I share 7 facts about myself, and then tag 7 more bloggers to do the same!

Thanks to Brittany for the shout out! Winking smile

1. I have a secret (now not-so secret) love for Taylor Swift songs.

taylor swift

The love isn’t for Taylor Swift herself, it’s just for her songs.  Just felt the need to clarify. Winking smile

My favorite song of hers is “Mean.”  It’s so catchy, and the lyrics are really funny.  And don’t we all know a person that fits the lyrics to that song?!

2. I used to have brown hair.

I’m naturally blonde (dirty blonde, if we really have to be specific …), but one summer, I decided to make a drastic change.  I colored my hair a dark chocolate brown.  I was trying to channel Cameron Diaz …

But let’s be honest … I’m not Cameron Diaz. Smile with tongue out

So instead, I looked more gothic than anything else.  After a couple of months, I went back to the hairdresser and added some highlights.  Eventually, it looked like this:

dark hair

It was that color for about a year, and then I got sick of the upkeep (when you’re a blonde forcing yourself to be a brunette, your color quickly fades).  I’ve been blonde for three years now.  What do you think … should I go back to brunette??

3. I love foods that are meant for kids.

One of my favorites?

I know how horrible they are for you.  I know how much sugar is in them and the complete lack of nutrients.  But I still love them.

Last spring, when Brandon would travel for work, I would often eat a bowl of soup followed by 2 (or 4 … Embarrassed smile) Pop-Tarts.  I finally stopped because I knew I wasn’t getting enough nutrients in my daily meals.  But for a period of time, life was a little more sweet. Winking smile

4. I have multiple laughs.

I realize that most people have a “polite laugh” (i.e., “I don’t really think you’re funny but I’ll laugh anyway to be nice.”), an “awkward laugh” (i.e., “I don’t really know what to say right now because what you just said is so weird.”), and a “true laugh” (i.e., the kind of laugh you laugh when you’re watching a funny movie).

But I also have the “I’m laughing at the joke but I don’t really get it” laugh, the “I’m trying not to pee my pants” laugh, and the “I’m laughing so hard that I can’t breathe” laugh.

wedding laugh

Brandon loves getting me to a point where my laugh almost disappears because I’m gasping for breath.  I don’t usually laugh at movies or TV shows … even when I think they’re funny.  It’s as if I’m laughing internally.  But even just a certain look from Brandon can get me to the “gasping” point! Smile

5. I am one of the least creative people I know.

My grandmother was an incredible artist.  She could paint breathtaking pictures.  And although she can no longer paint (due to poor eyesight), she continues to create beautiful gardens in her backyard year after year.

My mom was never an artist, but she was (and still is) extremely crafty.  She can design Halloween costumes, assemble beautiful flower arrangements, and wrap a birthday gift better than Martha Stewart.

But sadly, I have inherited none of their talents.

I can’t even accessorize an outfit properly!!  I usually have to ask a sales person or friend for help! Smile with tongue out

I can, however, balance a checkbook like nobody’s business.  And I can organize a party, plan a vacation, and make a rockin’ “To-Do” list.

Can you tell what personality-type I am yet? Winking smile

6. I have a major sweet tooth … like, major.

I know this fact doesn’t come as a shock to those who know me or read this blog.  But here’s a funny story to go with this fact …

My senior year of college, I decided to eliminate all “white stuff” from my diet … meaning white sugar and flour, mostly.  This may sound easy, but you would be shocked at how many food staples contain these ingredients.

After about a month of this “diet,” I went out one night with some friends.  When we got back to our apartment (after midnight), I snuck back out of the apartment, walked to a local grocery store, and bought two bags of cookies (if I can remember properly, I believe they were Oreos and Pepperidge Farm Milano cookies).  I then walked back towards the apartment, stuffing cookies in my face along the way (nice visual, huh?).

When I finally looked at my cell phone, I realized that my roommates had been calling me in a panic, trying to find out where I had gone.  So I threw the rest of the cookies in a garbage can and returned home.

I tried to keep my little sugar “escapade” a secret, but it came out pretty quickly.

And since that experience, I have come to the conclusion that completely eliminating sweets from my diet is a bad idea.  Everything in moderation, my friends. Winking smile

7. If I had all the money in the world, I would choose to spend most of it traveling.

I love to travel.  I love experiencing new places, eating new foods, and meeting new people.

Some of my favorite trips have been to:

  • San Francisco and Napa Valley (my mom took me when I graduated college)
  • New York City (once on Spring Break, once for a school psych conference)

(NYC cab with my friend, Desiree)

  • Paris (another Spring Break trip)
  • Chicago (with hubby this summer)
  • Costa Rica (honeymoon)

And as of last night, husband and I are officially booked to go to Europe next summer!  We are flying over to Barcelona, Spain, spending a couple of days in Barcelona, then going on a cruise that will take us to several cities in France (Provence, Nice) and Italy (Rome, Florence, Naples).  I’m so excited to be able to share this experience with Brandon! Great answers, Kristen, and you’re more than welcome for the tag!

I had no idea that you used to have brown hair– I’ve always wanted to dye mine darker just to see how it looks, but I’m afraid that I WILL look a little bit gothic haha :(

Just don’t color it TOO dark! I love your blonde hair, but if you do decide to change it up, make sure you have some highlights or something in the brown hair. Otherwise, it’s just too dark for our skin tone!

  2. Lindsay @ The Lean Green Bean

haha i’m a secret taylor swift song lover as well! when i dye my hair i usually use the kind that fades out after 20 washes…makes it easy :) thanks for tagging me! i probably won’t get to it this week…i have a HUGE test friday….but hopefully soon!

      Good luck on your test!!

  3. Tiff @ Love Sweat and Beers

I totally relate to two of yours. I loooove pop tarts. Why do they sooooo bad for you??? I would also spend most of my money traveling. Traveling is so fun and enlightening.

I know … Pop-Tarts are sooo good, but sooo bad!

  4. Kat

Hey we are kinda alike :) I have a HUGE sweet tooth. I can eat candy, ice cream, and cake until I puke. I literally have zero sence of serving sizes when it comes to sweets! lol And I can GUARANTEE I am less creative then you. I cant even draw a straight line lol

Hahaha I love it, Kat! We already knew we had our faith in common, and now we know we have more things in common! :)

  5. Holly

Thank you for the tag :D I can’t wait to participate as well!
OMG- I was CRAVING pop tarts the other week- like I HAD to have them. I had the most random craving- poptarts & pancakes..what the heck?! But I loved the strawberry ones with frosting & sprinkles.
& I say stick with the blonde- it looks really good on you :) Not that brown looks bad, but I love the blonde!

Thanks, Holly!! And my fave pop-tarts are the hot fudge sundae. When I was kid, I was obsessed with the s’more ones. Yum! :)

  6. Sarah @ Simply Dove Simply Life

I can totally relate to your different laughs! I have a ton of different ones too! When I was younger I didn’t like my laugh, so I actually tried to change it! It was so fake and it took so much effort to try to change it that I quickly gave up. I don’t know what I was thinking! :)

That’s funny, Sarah! Isn’t it crazy how we try to change ourselves when we’re younger?!

  7. Lyndsie @ highcottonlivin

So great to learn a little more about you! I agree with you on spending money on travel. There are so many places I want to see. If only money grew on trees :)

Haha that would be nice, wouldn’t it? ;)

  8. TheCookieBoss

I also have a serious sweet tooth. I could probably eat sweet things for every meal, everyday. But, that’s not healthy so I just stick with sweet food for dessert, once a day. :) But something totally random would probably be that I love jigsaw puzzles. I always have one laying around so I can put it together if I’m bored.

    • notsodomesticated

That’s awesome about the puzzles! I used to love doing puzzles, but it’s been a while since I’ve worked on one. :)

  9. Katie

I like your hair blonde! If it makes you feel any better, going to a ‘dark blonde’ from naturally darker brown is ridiculous maintenance and fading too. So much work!

    • notsodomesticated

I know … we should all just be happy with the hair color God gave us. It would be so much easier haha!

  10. Jordan

You’re so cute! you look amazing blonde and brunette. I don’t think I could EVER pull of blonde hair haha

    • notsodomesticated

      Thanks, Jordan!! :)

  11. Janelle

Thanks for the tag!!! I love the story about you sneaking out to store for cookies. I’m with you on the travelling for sure – I LOVE new adventures and places.

  12. girl in the pink

I like your hair both ways! I have naturally red hair and have tried to go darker, but I have the same problem – it is so high maintenance to go darker!!

    • notsodomesticated

Your hair is GORGEOUS! You should never change it!! :)

  13. Linda Kiser

I love the post. Like you, I have a major sweet tooth. I agree…moderation. Very fun post!!!!

    • notsodomesticated

      Thanks, Linda!! :)

  14. Amy@ahealthyandhappyheart

I have a huge sweet tooth as well! I crave sour skittles..all the time. xoxo

Well that’s a new one! I don’t even know if I’ve had sour skittles! I usually crave chocolate or things like ice cream and cake, rather than candy. :)

  15. Sam

i hear ya on the sugar addiction!! just a little bit every day (or twice/three times a day) keeps me sane :)
