Happy Wednesday, everyone! ![]()

I’m excited to tell you about my eats today because: a) I made something other than peanut butter and banana on whole-wheat toast for breakfast (shocking, I know) and b) I have a sensible snack idea to share!
As always, we give props to Jenn for hosting WIAW!
Breakfast:
No, I’m not sick of my normal combination yet. I just needed to use up some leftover lunch meat.
So I microwaved a beaten egg for about 30 seconds, and then added the egg to a toasted whole-wheat sandwich thin and topped it with turkey slices and grape jelly. I also had watermelon because watermelon is delicious (and cheap) right now!
Lunch:
That would be my epic (yes, I said it) chicken burger from Farm Burger. Go back and check Monday’s post for details, if you’d like. But let’s just say kale coleslaw is one of the best ideas ever.
Snack:
My blender is back in business, guys! ![]()
For this smoothie I used:
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/2 cup organic vanilla yogurt
- handful of frozen strawberries
- handful of ice
- half a frozen banana
- 1/2 tbsp. dark chocolate peanut butter
- handful spinach
I’m sorry, but homemade smoothies are so much better than store bought, in my opinion. Such a good, filling snack!
Dinner:
This shrimp dish was light, flavorful, and super easy to make. Recipe to come on Friday!
Dessert:
I’ve always thought that I’ve had a special relationship with Ben and Jerry.
They always make my favorite ice cream flavors … like Red Velvet Cake and Chubby Hubby.
But this time? I think they might know me a little too well.
Banana Peanut Butter Greek frozen yogurt?? Have they been spying on my kitchen every morning, as I make my breakfast? ![]()
If you like the combination of peanut butter + banana as much as I do, you need to try this. The end.
————————-
And now, let’s talk “The Bachelorette!”
(Warning: Possible spoilers ahead!)
My thoughts:
1. I kind of have to agree with the 50 million other people who said this may be the most boring season ever. I like Emily, but she’s not very entertaining. Like, at all. I did, however, enjoy when she said she’d go “West Virginia, hood rat, backwoods on his ***!” I have no idea what that means, but it was probably the most humorous thing she’s said all season!
2. I know the producers edit this show to make certain people look good and certain people look bad. But let’s be honest, Kalon was never making it to the final 2, or even the final 4. Sure, it was bad that he called Emily’s daughter “baggage.” Shame on him. But it was also a great excuse for Emily to dump his behind.
3. And finally, call me crazy …
… but I think I prefer Doug as a woman. ![]()

Question for ya …
Tell me the best thing you’ve eaten this week!
What do you like to put in your smoothies?
Will you be trying Ben & Jerry’s frozen Green yogurt?
Thoughts on “The Bachelorette?”

I don’t even eat meat and that burger STILL looks to die for…kale slaw might just have to happen in my life.
As for The Bachelorette, she was so weird this week, right? I can’t even keep all the guys straight and tend to do 500 other things while watching, so I guess I am bored?
Sarah @ The Smart Kitchen recently posted..What I (Salvaged) Wednesday
The kale cole slaw made the burger. So good!
ooh, i’ll have to try the frozen yogurt! i’ve been watching the bachelorette + i have to agree, it’s pretty boring this season. i’m so glad Kalon is gone, though!
amy @ fearless homemaker recently posted..oatmeal chocolate chip cookie muffins
Amy, if you try the frozen yogurt, let me know what you think!
omg frozen yogurt from ben and jerrys that is great news! I will have to see if we have that at my grocery store… and I totally agree… what does “West Virginia, hood rat, backwoods on his ***!” mean haahah. and she kept repeating it and repeating it! hahaha it made me laugh every time!
Danielle @ Itsaharleyyylife recently posted..Boston Here I Come!
To my knowledge, West Virgina is not known for “hood rats.” But hey, what do I know?!
I must say, I think Mr. Ben & Jerry are following your blog. I agree
Well clearly … all the cool people are following it!
haha!
I like my smoothies with a frozen banana, greek yogurt, spinach, and pineapple! The combo of the banana and pineapple is definitely a winner!
Megan@ The Running Doc recently posted..It’s Skyline Time
Oh gosh I want to try that frozen yogurt! What a great flavour combo
!!! Yum!

I know a lot of people aren’t too happy with this season, but I have to admit I am really loving it! (yes, i know i am the minority lol!) The last season I struggled with enjoying the bachelor: Ben picking Courtney put the whole season down for me! I actually do like Emily and even though she is pretty proper 99% of the time (except for the hood rat thing) lol I definitely think there is much more to her than the perfect lady she is portrayed as being! Lol plus, I have a huge crush on Arie, Sean and even Jef (not usually my type!) and can’t wait to know who she picks!
Jana @ Newly Wife Healthy Life recently posted..WIAW: Chicago Edition
i totally agree jana! sean is my favorite, then arie and jef are tied in my book for second right now.
can’t wait to see who she picks in the end!

Okay I need to try that ben and jerry’s. And I haven’t had a smoothie in a while. I need to make one asap! That looks so tasty…and yes, homemade is always wayyy better than store bought! Hope you have a great Wednesday friend <3

That frozen yogurt sounds great! I want to try. Now.
And I agree – homemade smoothies are WAY better than store bought.

i’ve been wondering about that ben & jerry’s banana peanut butter frozen greek yogurt! if it passed by you with flying colors, i’m sure i’ll love it too!

back to the bachelorette… i like this season actually. i agree, emily can be kind of boring sometimes, but i’m starting to get into it more. i’m totally digging sean, and after this week’s episode, i’m liking jef more and more. however, it’s somewhat hard to see jef and emily together. i don’t know. i totally agree about kalon & doug!
Ashley @ My Food ‘N’ Fitness Diaries recently posted..WIAW #38: Where Did My Appetite Go?!
I know what you mean about Jef and Emily. I love Jef, but I don’t really see the two of them together!
That burger looks fantastic! And I’ve been loving smoothies for snacks the past few days…I’ve been trying to add veggies, too, though, so some of my combinations have ended up tasting a bit odd:P
kaceyjt recently posted..Tomatoes, Cake-decorating and Crystal Bridges
ahhh that burger looks so good!! how are the nutritional stats on the ben and jerrys? is it similar to their ice cream or better? I’ve seen it in the stores, i might need to pick it up!
best thing ive had so far this week was the ice cream cake i had on sunday, yumyum!
Theresa recently posted..Goat cheese makes everything better
Calorie-wise, I don’t think it’s any better. But I liked the list of ingredients … they seemed simpler, which is always good!
I will for sure be checking out the greek frozen yogurt! I loved Arie and Doug as women! I sort of hate that she is liking Ryan, but he’s on my fantasy team, so I like the points. Also, Kalon was on my team (not by choice, last pick), so I got -10 points for his booting!
Laurie @ Love, Laugh, Laurie recently posted..Tuesday Night BBQ
Haha congrats! I’m sure he’d be happy to know that you got 10 points for Emily kicking him off!!
Hahaha the bachelorette really isn’t all that great, but we know we will still watch it haha. I am in love with the banana pb combo and have been tempted to buy that ben and jerry’s fro yo a few times now. However, I literally have zero self control around ice cream and will definately destroy the entire pint in one day if its super good. Which im sure it is.
krystal@coffeecardiogoddess recently posted..WIAW: On my Own
I used to buy a pint of Ben and Jerry’s and just eat it instead of dinner back in college. Not every day, of course. But maybe once a month. It was awesome.
I still need to try the Ben and Jerry’s Greek Frozen Yogurt! I can’t get into regular greek yogurt…but the frozen looks delicious!
I really need to get a better blender…ours smells like melting plastic when we run it…oops! Any recommendations? I’d like to do homemade smoothies!
Gretchen recently posted..School’s Out for Summer…:)
I don’t really have a great recommendation for a blender …. that’s actually a good question! I think anything Cuisinart makes is always good. I just wouldn’t go with the absolute cheapest brand because it’s probably that cheap for a reason!
I’m glad to hear you liked the B&J frozen yogurt– I saw it at the store but was a tad bit skeptical. Now I might just be a tad more inclined to take the plunge.
Aaaaand I’ll be coming back to this post once I watch Monday’s episode

Banana Peanut Butter Greek frozen yogurt?!! I bet that’s the best thing ever right? lol! I sure love Greek yogurt + banana + peanut butter as well!
Oh also; I love your ‘header’ – so cute!

We saw that Greek B&J in the store the other day. We resisted but now that I hear your take on it, we might have to give in….

How do you like the new house? No more crock pot meals all the time! lol
Hey Lauren! Thanks so much for asking about the house! We’re loving it. Sometimes it’s still hard to believe that we’re here permanently and never have to return to the hotel haha. I think my slow cooker is going to be retired for a couple of months!
Watermelon is sooooo good right now! I have been eating so much of it lately that I feel like I’m going to turn into one! The sandwich you had at lunch looks amazingly delicious, totally something I would order!
Jessica recently posted..WIAW: Help! I Think I Have a Problem…
OMG!!! I tooooooooooootally killed that exact flavor of Ben & Jerry’s over the weekend! So stinkin’ good! Also, every time I think of banana & peanut butter, I think about your breakfast. Is that weird?!?
Amber with Slim Pickin’s Kitchen recently posted..Banana Split Breakfast Bundles
Haha no, it’s not weird! It’s just pathetic on my end that I have that breakfast so much, that it’s the first thing that comes to your mind! Too funny!!
That exact greek yogurt flavor is my latest favorite Ben and Jerry’s! I think it’d make a perfect Bachelorette snack…but I’m a little bored with Emily too.

I love smoothies. I put in a bunch of frozen fruit (whatever’s in my freezer. Usually bananas, strawberries, blueberries…maybe pineapple or peaches), a carrot, a handful of spinach or kale. For the liquid, I usually go with either 100% OJ, that yucky Trop50 stuff (you can’t tell its yucky once blended with all the yummy fruits/veggies – and it saves on calories), or diet lipton tea (again, you can’t tell the tea is there, its 0 calorie, and smoothies need liquid).
I don’t think I’ve eaten anything all that great this week. I’m making buffalo chicken burgers and my grandma’s potato salad recipe tonight – so I hope those end up being amazing!
Ooh the buffalo chicken burgers sound awesome! Let me know how they turn out!
So we bought some Ben and Jerrys but the hubby ate it all before I could try it! He said it was delish though!
The Bach is meh right now for me too….I like Arie, Sean, Jeff and I can’t decide about Ryan!
Carrie @ Lift Eat Repeat recently posted..If It’s Important, You’ll Make Time

Hahaha! Your Bachelorette comments had me cracking up here! This season is a bit dull, but as always, I’m compelled to watch!
I actually stopped watching this season of the bachlorette because I was so bored! But I do love your thoughts on here, you had me cracking up

I have been debating forking over the money for this new B and J and now I realize it’s time to muahaha

I’ve been wondering about that ben and jerry’s greek yogurt, glad to know you really liked it!!
I’m also kind of bored with this season, but that won’t stop me from watching it

I love green smoothies. We got a Vitamix last year and it has made them so easy to make. My favorites usually involve vanilla almond milk, frozen banana, large handful of spinach, a couple ice cubes and occasionally a few berries or mango chunks. Yum. Plus, I get my greens in.
