An explanation and “Whatcha Reading.”

So for those who are curious about what happened to my poor car …

car for blog2

… well I’ll tell ya!

The short version: A semi-truck did it. Steaming mad

The longer version: I was driving home from work on Thursday, and I was in the left lane on I-75 (a major highway).  There was a semi-truck in front of me, and a massive chunk of tire tread came off the truck and flew at my car.  Traffic was pretty thick so I couldn’t swerve, so this massive projectile hit the front of my car and then I drove over it. Thumbs down

And of course, the truck didn’t stop and either did anyone else.  Thankfully, I wasn’t hurt because it really could have been a much worse situation.  But now we’re dealing with the insurance … and that’s all I’m going to say about that … Crying face

So on to happier topics!!

It is Week 3 of my “Whatcha Reading Weekend!” Smile

Basically thoughts of food seemed to consume my mind this week (but really, what else is new?), so all of my favorite posts involve food!

  • Holly at Greek Yogurt & Apple Slices posted a recipe for Baked Funfetti Doughnuts!  Um … doughnuts+ funfetti cake batter??  Sign me up! Thumbs up
  • Jenn at Peas & Crayons is the one responsible for organizing the weekly “What I Ate Wednesday” posts.  And if you haven’t checked one out yet, you should.  This week, 170 different bloggers linked their menus to her site!  Surprised smile  You can get some awesome ideas from scrolling through some of their blog posts!
  • Amy at Fearless Homemaker posted an insanely-delicious looking recipe for Pumpkin-Chocolate Swirl Brownies on Thursday.  Not only do the brownies look amazing, but they also include some pretty interesting ingredients … like cayenne pepper!  Crazy!  Plus, I am obsessed with all things pumpkin right now, so this recipe definitely caught my eye!

And speaking of pumpkin …

019

… I promise to share the recipe for these beauties very soon!  Winking smile

Question for ya …

What are you going this weekend??

Saturday is mostly going to be spent watching college football and eating buffalo chicken wing dip (recipe coming soon!)! Smile  We’re also running 10 miles … yikes!  Sunday we’re having Brandon’s parents over for dinner, which is always a fun time!! Thumbs up

Ever been in a car accident?  What happened?

Oh my gosh, Kristen I’m sorry! That completely sucks, and it’s horrible that they had the audacity not to stop and help you.

Kristen, I am so glad you were not hurt! Hope everything goes smoothly with insurance, I know that headache, my Mustang is in the shop right now too :( I must stick up for the truck driver though, they do not know when they blow a tire unless it is a steer tire(main tire). All the recipes have been looking great btw!!

  8. Stephanie @ Blonde Highlights

I’m so happy you weren’t hurt! That looks like rough damage (and completely LOL’d at your license plate blackout with sad faces!! Too funny!).

I was hit by a drunk driver TWICE! Once time my car flipped three times and was clearly totaled and the other time it wasn’t as bad but my car was totaled then too… when a DD hits you (I have found) insurance companies are quick to get you off their back and cut you a check! Hopefully you will get your car looking brand stinkin’ new in no time! Keeping my fingers crossed!

AND I AM LOVING YOUR RECOMMENDATIONS! Have a very great and relaxing weekend!

    XOXO

Driving down a back road in Pennsylvania years ago, I was hit by a deer. Yes, it’s true. The deer hit me. He was running, came upon a downward hill and couldn’t stop. I happened to be driving by and didn’t see him til he was approaching from the driver’s side of the car. Like you, I was fortunate that the major force of the deer hit the front bumper and hood of my little car.

It’s like that Gilmore Girls episode, where Rory keeps yelling, “A deer hit my car!”

Kristen, I’m so sorry about your car wreck! I hope your insurance works with you quickly to get everything back in order. Jeremy got hit by a drunk driver once, and the insurance was very slow, because the guy ran off. I know how much you took care of your little Civic!
