Addie Grace: 8 Weeks Old

Happy Wednesday, friends! Smile

Yesterday, Addie turned 8 weeks old.

8 weeks 3-1500

It’s hard to believe that on Sunday, she’ll be 2 months!

8 weeks 5-15008 weeks 6-1500

We’ve had a pretty good couple of weeks around here.

Here’s what’s been happening with Miss Addison recently:

  • She’s giving us more consistent eye contact.

  • She’s giving us more smiles!  Every smile feels like the best gift in the world.

7 weeks-1500

  • She’s getting better at following objects with her eyes.
  • She uses her strong little legs to push herself into a standing position when I’m holding her in my lap or when I’m trying to burp her.
  • She’s looking at herself in the mirror.  She probably thinks it’s another baby. Smile with tongue out
  • The reflux and gas seem to have gotten much better.  She still spits up on occasion, but that’s normal of any baby.
  • Sleeping is going well!  In fact on Saturday, Addie slept straight from 9pm-6am!  Woo-hoo!  That hasn’t happened again yet, but we’re hopeful that we’re getting close!

This past Saturday, we decided to venture out of the house for a little family outing.

We headed to the Suwanee Town Center Farmers’ Market, which is a place we used to love visiting last summer.

I’ve had some issues in the past with Addie not wanting to sleep when we were out and about.  So I decided to try putting her in the Moby wrap for this outing.

Using the wrap was a major success.  She almost immediately fell asleep when I put her in it, and she stayed asleep while we walked around and checked out all of the fun booths.  Score! Thumbs up

I had originally been intimidated to use the wrap.  I was afraid it would be complicated to use and I don’t do well with ‘complicated.’

But after watching this youtube video, I was able to wrap her up without any issue!

So if any of you new moms are intimidated by the wrap like I was, just watch the video.  I swear it isn’t as difficult as you’d think!

And finally, because I know a lot of my friends and family are wanting more videos of Addie, here’s one of her smiling!

It’s quick, but it’s there. Winking smile

Enjoy the rest of your week, my friends!

Question for ya …

If you have children, did you use any type of baby carrier?

I have an Ergo carrier, but she needs to be 12 lbs before I can use it (yes, I know there’s an infant insert, but I was too cheap to buy it!).

What have you been up to this week?  Any fun summer activities?

Anyone watching The Bachelorette?  Thoughts?

I’m not loving this season.  None of the guys are impressing me that much yet.  But you know I’m going to watch anyway. Smile with tongue out

Oh, and about the bachelorette, I am just not a fan this season :( I am trying, but am just not feeling it! I recorded the Monday episode but haven’t gotten around to watching it. I like Des, but the guys are just not making me want to watch ha!

I love all of her facial expressions!

I’m not that crazy about this season of The Bachelorette either. It seems more staged than others, for some reason.

I think the show is always a bit staged, but you’re right, it’s more obvious this season!

Love that wrap! Quite an improvement over what was available 30 years ago! And appreciate the youtube videos which are a huge help. There is a youtube video for just about anything you need these days – always the first place to check. Loving the photos of Addie – helps to make being so far away a bit easier. Love you both, GiGi

YAY for successful baby wearing!!! I loved my ‘homemade’ Moby wrap and my Ergo! Like you, I used the Moby style wrap early on with my first and sometimes a ‘homemade’ hot sling; with my second I used my Baby K’Tan instead, less wrapping ; ) I loved loved loved my Ergo as they got bigger, I don’t think there was a day that went by for the first 2.5 or so years I didn’t use it with my second. Baby wearing is awesome! I used it more with my second than my first as I needed to be hands free more taking care of a toddler and an infant. Best thing ever!

    • notsodomesticated

Wow, so the Ergo can be used when they’re 2 years old?? That’s awesome!

  7. Ashley @ My Food N Fitness Diaries

She is getting more beautiful by the week! I loved the video too. :)

I’m watching The Bachelorette, and I feel the same as you. I do like Desiree though, so we’ll see how it ends up!

Oh my gosh that video – what a doll. Totally makes your day to watch that. Amazing how fast they grow! I just love her big blue eyes. Lucky girl :)

You look beautiful and happy Kristen. Always great to see.

    Take Care,

Thanks, friend. :) Can’t wait to find out what you’re having. Brandon is betting boy and I’m betting girl. ;)

I have a baby bjorn carrier that i’ve used occasionally. She had to be 8 lbs before I could start using it. She doesn’t like it very much yet b/c I don’t think it’s “snuggly” enough-her head still wobbles around quite a bit. I looked into getting a Moby wrap but they’re kind of expensive so I’ll probably just stick to the carrier for now. Or maybe I should try making my own?? who knows!

    • notsodomesticated

I know people who have made their own, so if you’re good at that kind of thing, you should definitely try it!! :)

  11. amy @ fearless homemaker

She is lovely! Our little peanut is already 8 days old + its flying by! I know 8 weeks will be here before we know it. =) We have the Moby, too, and i love it. We also have the Ergo but are also too cheap to buy the infant insert, ha! =)

    • notsodomesticated

Aww 8 days! I hope all is going well for you. Just remember it’s totally normal to have your rough days emotionally! :)

  12. Naomi

I agree about the Bachelorette. Not as good this season, but I will watch it anyway. I do like Bryden though.

    • notsodomesticated

I heard some not-so great things about him, but I don’t know how true they are. He seemed like a nice guy to me!

      • Naomi

Really? Haha who knows. They always seem to spin things on that show to throw us off. We shall see!

        • notsodomesticated

          Very true!! ;)

  13. Lindsay

That is one beautiful, adorable baby.

Oh my goodness!! She is getting so big!! And she’s so beautiful, too! You look great as well!
I’m watching The Bachelorette! It’s been a little boring at times this season, and I think she got an awful group of guys, but hopefully there will be a good one in there somewhere! I like Drew so far, but we haven’t heard much from him.

How does she seem so big already?! They grow so fast! That video melts my heart. Precious!! :) We’ve been watching the Bachelorette! I feel like, comparing her guys to the last seasons, the boys aren’t too terrible. I have a feeling Brooks is going to get far! We shall see!
