A weekend devoid of nutrients.

Hi again. Smile

Let me just apologize in advance for my pathetic post.  My brain is still completely focused on making our house a home; therefore, I have no creativity left to go towards the blog today.

If you’re still reading, thanks.  Obviously you must be a friend or family member, because no one else would stick around after that introduction. Smile with tongue out

Jen’s theme for WIAW this month is focused on sensible snacking.  Normally, I’m all about this.

Sensible Snacking

This past weekend, however, I’m embarrassed to admit that my diet consisted of this:

Moving Food

In case those pictures aren’t obvious enough, I basically lived off of Krispy Kreme donuts (their Key Lime donut was really tasty!), Papa John’s pizza, and cookies.  These are all foods that we bought for our friends who helped us move, but we had a ton of leftovers, and I don’t like wasting food.

Plus, I’ve had zero desire to cook.

That being said, I finally went to the grocery store yesterday, and I’m happy to report that apples, bananas, and watermelon were consumed.  I still have no desire to cook, but I know that will change once we’re settled!

And it has to change, because I have so many fun kitchen gadgets to try out!

When we were living in our house in Ohio, we didn’t have a whole lot of kitchen space.  So many of our wedding gifts stayed at Brandon’s parents’ house.  But when we moved to Atlanta, we took all of those things with us.

This weekend when I was unpacking our kitchen supplies, I felt like it was Christmas!  I had completely forgotten about some of the incredible gifts we had received!

A juicer??  I’ve been wanting a juicer recently … who knew that I already owned one?!

I am going to be making plenty of soups with this bad boy.

Why have I been spending so much time chopping onions??

Thanks to this mandolin, my scalloped potatoes will no longer take hours to cook! Winking smile

To those people who bought us these beautiful gifts, I’m so sorry that it’s taken a year and a half to use them.  But I promise that I will make up for lost time, because I already have lots of ideas swimming around in my head!!

And finally, thoughts on The Bachelorette?

I still love Jef …

… but what was he wearing at the Rose Ceremony??  Knee-high socks and pleated shorts?  You gotta respect the guy’s confidence, but I wonder how seriously Emily can take a guy wearing knee-highs. Winking smile

Question for ya …

What’s the best thing you’ve eaten this week?

When’s the last time that you’ve had a total junk-food weekend?

What is your favorite healthy snack?

Thoughts on The Bachelorette?

Haha I didn’t say anything today that would be considered a spoiler … otherwise, I try to remember to write “Spoiler Alert!” before talking about the show. ;) This season isn’t that interesting, yet I still can’t help but watch!

      • Brittany @ Itty Bits of Balance

Haha okay, so I just watched the episode and had to come back to catch up on your feedback– I love Jef too! He’s very well-mannered and stands out from a lot of the guys.

I also like Arie, but Ryan has GOT to go! What was she thinking keeping him!?

sunday was terrible on the nutrient front for me too… we had three grad parties, and they all had amazing treats and cake. let’s just say a little too much sugar was consumed that day! it’s all good though… once you get settled, you’ll get into your groove again. ;)
as for the bachelorette, i’m really liking sean these days. he’s so good looking, i love how he treats emily, and i like that his faith is important to him. there’s something about jef that keeps him at the top of the list too though!

I’m with you on Sean. He is super good looking, and I’m assuming he’s a Christian (of course, they never actually say “Christian” on the show. Heaven forbid!). :)

  10. Lindsay @ In Sweetness and In Health

I must be a friend because I kept reading ;) hehe. And those onion chopper things are great! My mom has one and it’s wayyyy better than just chopping them regularly.

  11. Theresa

you are too funny–moving is such a crazy time, you are allowed those junk foody type weekends once in a while!! my last one was probably memorial day weekend ;)

p.s. i love those snappea crisps and i’m so excited you posted them on here!!

  12. Stefanie @TheNewHealthy

Oh my gosh, I totally understand wanting to put your creativity into your new home rather than into the blog! I would do the same. As for the pizza and donuts, sometimes it’s just necessary to grab the junk. I know you’ll get right back to eating healthy (and cooking) once you’re ready.

And YAY for kitchen gadgets and a new kitchen to experiment in!!! :)

Did you use picmonkey?!?! LOVE IT!!
I need one of those onion chopper things in my life. Onions make me cry so bad I dread chopping them and have to use swimming goggles to protect myself (which actually works really well).

Yes I did use picmonkey! I think you’ve talked about it a couple times on your blog, so I finally stopped being lazy and went to the website. I couldn’t believe how EASY it was! That’s my kind of website! Thanks for the great idea!

  17. Natalia Baage-Lord

Are those wasabi/soy almonds hot/spicy? I’ve been debating whether or not to buy them, and I always don’t because I can’t stand any hot’n'spicy foods.

I was at a college campus for cheer camp Sunday-Wednesday, and we lived off cafeteria food. It was okay, but not a lot of healthy options. The best thing I ate at camp was chick-fil-a waffle fries that we had the last night. :)

  23. Jana @ Newly Wife Healthy Life

There are definitely those times when my diet consists of carbs, sugar, and more carbs. Life happens, and I always just tell myself I will get back into a routine soon :-) Before I got married, I still lived with my parents, but all of our wedding gifts went to our house where Tim was living. It was so nice to finally move in and get to unpack all of our gifts. I definitely had forgotten about all of the goodies from my showers months earlier.
