This is it, you guys!
Ready or not, Addison will be here any time now!!
What is baby Addison doing this week?
According to this website, “This week marks the official end of your pregnancy. Your baby probably weighs anywhere from six to nine pounds and measures between 19 and 22 inches (though tons of perfectly healthy babies are smaller or bigger). The bones in her skull haven’t fused yet — Mother Nature’s way of making it easier to get through the birth canal during labor and delivery. She now has enough fat under the skin to maintain her body temperature outside the womb (with a little help from those cute outfits and swaddling blankets that you’ve been stocking up on!). You (or actually the placenta) are still providing the antibodies she’ll need to fight off infections for the first six months of her life. And if you plan on breastfeeding, your milk will be giving her more antibodies that’ll boost her immune system.”
- Continued acid reflux.
- Increased Braxton Hicks contractions.
- Just being big. The end.
I probably wake up every hour or so now. Not only do I need to use the restroom, but I’m having a harder time settling my mind down. I keep wondering if every ache and pain is the start of labor!
Cravings/Foods I’m loving:
Good grief, what am I not loving? It makes me so irritated to read articles that say that your appetite decreases closer to your due date. I want to meet one of those imaginary women. Because I am constantly hungry. Like, for real. And milkshakes are a personal favorite right now, although I try not to have them too often!
What the doctor is saying:
My doctor wasn’t working on Thursday when I went in for another appointment. So I met with the midwife instead. She said that Addison has definitely dropped, which made me happy and surprised. I hadn’t noticed any difference! She also said that I have the “perfect” pregnant belly, which I found humorous. I have no idea how to take that “compliment!”
I have another appointment scheduled for Tuesday. At that point, the doctor will probably schedule an induction. The midwife is guessing he’d schedule it for Thursday (so he doesn’t have to worry about working on the weekend ), but that’s just her guess.
What we’ve been doing to prepare:
- Brandon put together Addison’s pack & play and swing.
- We were blessed to have another date night together. We went to Mellow Mushroom on Saturday night. It was a gorgeous night, so we were able to sit on the patio and enjoy our pizza. It was perfect!
- On Saturday afternoon, I laced up my tennis shoes for the first time in 5 weeks and went for a walk!
Brandon was trying to prove with these pictures that from the front, I didn’t look pregnant.
I don’t think he managed to prove his point … how about you?
I’m hoping that the walking will help induce labor naturally.
Hey, you never know. If nothing else, it felt good to move again!
- We’re also trying a couple of other strategies that the midwife suggested for inducing labor naturally. I won’t go into specifics because I prefer to keep this blog suitable for all audiences, but I’ll bet you can use your imagination to figure out what she may have recommended!
Summary of Pregnancy
Looking back over the last 40 weeks, I have to say that I really have been incredibly blessed with an (overall) easy pregnancy. Sure, I had a bit of nausea, the occasional fatigue, and a few hormonal ups and downs. Yes, I had acid reflux and some other symptoms that caused a few sleepless nights. But I think as a whole, I got off pretty easy!
What a difference 27 weeks makes, huh?
Although I am nervous about the delivery, and I am even more nervous about what happens after delivery (i.e, caring for another human being!), I am so excited to meet our daughter. And I am abundantly thankful to the Lord for the amazing gift He has given to me and Brandon. I know that Addison is His child, and I am just fortunate to have her in my care for a short period of time. I pray that I will have the wisdom to raise her according to His ways!
And that, my friends, ends my weekly pregnancy updates. At this time next week, I will hopefully be able to share pictures of our daughter! But bear with me … I have no idea what my blogging schedule is going to be like for a while, because obviously my world is about to turn upside down!!
Question for ya …
What did you do this weekend?
Take your guesses: Will I go naturally in the next few days, or will I be having an induction?
