37 Weeks: Considered Full-Term

Happy Monday! Smile

Let’s talk baby!

37 Weeks

I know … I’m huge.

What is baby Addison doing this week?

According to this website, “Congratulations! You’ve got what is officially considered a full-term baby, even with three weeks to go. That doesn’t mean he’s finished growing — in fact, he’s still packing on about a half pound a week (at this age, the average fetus weighs about 6.5 pounds). That makes it a little crowded in your uterus, so he’s probably not kicking as much, though he’s probably stretching, rolling a bit, and wiggling (all of which you’ll be able to feel!). Right now, your little superstar is busy rehearsing for his big debut, inhaling and exhaling amniotic fluid (to get the lungs ready for that first breath), sucking his thumb (to prepare for that first suckle of milk), blinking, and turning from side to side.”

Symptoms/Physical Changes:

- Some swelling, especially in my feet

- Sore feet if I’ve been standing too long

- Acid reflux/heartburn

- Clumsiness (I’m always a bit clumsy, but it’s gotten worse!)

- What I’m guessing are Braxton Hicks contractions.  It’s hard for me to know for sure, but that’s what I’m assuming.  I’m also a lot more uncomfortable these days when she moves around.  She’s obviously a lot bigger than she used to be, so her movements seem to be hitting some of my major organs. Winking smile

Despite some of the unpleasant symptoms I’ve had, I have to say that I’ve been incredibly blessed with this pregnancy.  To help me keep things in perspective, here are just some of the symptoms that I could have experienced, but haven’t so far …

Symptoms I HAVEN’T had:

- Back pain (very thankful about this one)

- Stretch marks

- Varicose veins in my legs

- Constipation

- Severe fatigue

- Leg cramps (I get them occasionally, but not often)

- Itchy belly

And that’s just to name a few.  So yes, I’ve been blessed.

Sleep:

Not great this week.  I had a couple of nights where I eventually got up and moved to the couch, because I was waking up so frequently.  But over the weekend, I was able to get a solid 7-8 hours each night!

Cravings/foods I’m loving:

- Orange juice

- I’m still eating a lot of cereal and milk.  Strawberry frosted mini-wheats are my favorite this week!

- I had a random craving for meat, and specifically a Publix sub, a few days ago.  But I was too lazy pregnant to go get myself one!

What the doctor is saying:

Believe it or not, my doctor actually told me that Addie is measuring a little on the small side.  But he said he’s not surprised, since I’m a smaller person (or at least, I was. Smile with tongue out).  He also said that if I go more than a week beyond my due date, he’ll want to induce me.  He said there are more potential risks when you start pushing 42 weeks.  Although I don’t want to be induced, I’m also happy to know that I won’t have to carry around a 42 week old baby!

What we’ve been doing to prepare:

- We started packing our hospital bags.  But I can’t pack my toiletries yet because I’m using them!  So fingers crossed that I’ll have time to finish packing before I have to make a run to the hospital!

- Did more organizing of her things.  But our upstairs guest room is currently being used as a “baby staging area,” if you will.  Basically we have thrown everything in there that we know we need, but we don’t know what to do with it quite yet. Who me? Hopefully one of our moms can help us organize everything when they arrive (hint hint!).

- We treated ourselves to a date night!

012

Considering that this was probably going to be our last date night for a while, we went all out and headed to our favorite sushi restaurant.

013-1500

014-1500

Don’t worry … I only ate the cooked stuff.

Dinner was delicious.  We then finished the night getting Steak & Shake milkshakes … cookies & cream for Brandon, red velvet for me.

And I was asleep by 8:45.  I sure do know how to party. Winking smile

Question for ya …

What did you do this weekend?

Favorite place to get a milkshake?

OK, it’s been a week since the Bachelor finale.  Hopefully everyone who wants to watch it has watched it.  So what are your thoughts??

I like Catherine, but I didn’t really see them together.  And I really like Sean, but I don’t understand why he’s choosing to keep them in the spotlight (having the wedding on TV, doing Dancing with the Stars, etc).  I think the couples who have done the best are the ones who have stayed out of the celebrity spotlight.  But who knows.  I hope it works out, for their sake!

As a joy of carrying twins I’ve had Braxton hicks since week 22. They basically feel like your stomach is tightening – kinda like holding a sit up. For me they are painless – just annoying.
    Man you’re getting close!!

I don’t understand why he’s going on Dancing with the Stars either! I feel like that’s a good way to put stress on on a relationship. I hope that you make it to 40 weeks and have her naturally so that you don’t have to be induced!

Almost baby time! There is a local ice cream shop that takes their strawberry bon bon ice cream and makes it into a shake. Beyond delicious.

So glad you have made it so far with baby Addie! I have a feeling you are going to go soon, but I guess that will be up to your little girl! ;)

I have mixed feelings about the bachelor. I really liked this season and Sean, but I am not sure about his choice with Carherine. I just didn’t think she seemed ready for marriage. I agree with you that it seems strange Sean is going to do dancing with the stars now, he didn’t seem like the celebrity type! Fame does weird things to people though!

Yeah I had mixed feelings on Catherine, too!

I always love reading these posts. :) I scheduled our induction for exactly 41 weeks (April 16) this past week because my doctor doesn’t want us going over that either. Like you said, I hope we don’t have to get to that point, but it’s a relief knowing that I won’t be pregnant beyond that! You’re looking adorable, as usual! Hope you’re feeling better this week! xoxo

Wow, you are ALL stomach lady! And you’re looking absolutely gorgeous & glowing! Love seeing your baby talk updates – can you tell?? Lol! Always wonderful to see someone’s preganancy go so we1l…and you’re almost there! Jealous you have a “Steak & Shake” near you… I went ONCE when I visited the hubby’s fam in Florida. Their milkshakes are the Best! Sadly, there are none nearby where we live in MD though.

Wow so exciting! You are almost there!
I didn’t see him and Catherine together either but hey I can’t imagine anyone getting together in that situation so I guess we will see what happens. I def have mixed feelings about them doing the wedding on tv and dancing with the starts etc…seems like overkill to me!

Congrats on being in the final stretch!
I only watched the After the Rose–I figured I saved myself a couple of hours. I was very surprised by the Catherine pick. And I’m not a fan of them staying in the spotlight.
I am excited for Des as the Bachelorette.

Come on, Addison, come into the world!!!

Red velvet milkshake? Sounds like heaven. I actually prefer Blizzards to milkshakes though. Is it weird that my favorite milkshakes might be from McDonald’s?

As for The Bachelor, I didn’t really like either of the final two, and I couldn’t really see how they fit together. I know it has a lot to do with editing, but still. I also agree that staying in the spotlight might just do more harm than good, but to be honest, I don’t know that either of them is all that endearing outside of the show. [Is that mean to say???]

I can’t believe you’re only 8 weeks behind me, either! Since you didn’t make the announcement for a while, it feels like you shouldn’t be as far along as you are! ;) So exciting!

  13. Angelica

You look so cute!! I also love your baby updates and I hope I have your symptoms during pregnancy. I have heard too many horror stories so it’s great to hear about a positive experience!

    • notsodomesticated

Yeah, I’ve definitely been fortunate, overall!

  14. Holly

Are you scared about being induced? OR just a personal preference? I really didn’t want to be either, but then I ended up having a WONDERFUL experience…and my water ended up breaking (naturally)- I mean it didn’t have to be broken by the doctor. So I was happy to experience the whole water breaking thing…it was something I was sad I would miss being induced..but it worked out in the end. I was just curious :)

How is the red velvet? I was tempted by it the last time I was at Steak and Shake, but went with the Salted Caramel Pretzel (delicious!). My favorite place for milkshakes depends on the season. I love the Peach and Banana Pudding shakes from Chick Fil A, but when those aren’t in season and I have a shake craving, we usually end up at Steak and Shake :)

    • notsodomesticated

The red velvet was good, but the salted caramel pretzel was better! I had that a couple of weekends ago, and it was so delicious! And I like the Banana Pudding one at Chick Fil A, too. Brandon’s favorite is the Cookies & Cream at Chick Fil A … I think it’s his favorite milkshake ever!

Wow – you HAVE been blessed with your pregnancy! For some reason I always think I’ll be the lady with the all consuming symptom pregnancy. I sure hope I’m wrong! Definitely hoping you don’t make it to 42 weeks! Also, totally agree with you about Sean. Whyyyy do they insist on doing ANOTHER tv show? I wonder if they are getting any money or what the incentive is? I would think it would be much healthier for their relationship to just go back to being a normal, modest couple!

I would guess he’s getting money for it. And the wedding will be all paid for, plus they’ll probably get extra money, too. But I still think it’s a bad call … in my personal opinion!

  18. Jen@HealthyFoodandFamily

Admittedly, I didn’t see Sean and Catherine together, I still think him and Lindsay were a better fit…but whatever :)
You look great, I hope the next 3 weeks are enjoyable and you can get the rest that you need!
