28 Weeks: Good-bye Second Trimester!

Hi friends. Smile

Time for another pregnancy update!

28 Weeks

I am now entering my third trimester.  This is crazy to me.  I cannot believe how quickly time how gone!

Just as a reminder, this is how I looked at the beginning of the second trimester:

14 weeks

Just a tiny difference, right? Winking smile

What is baby Addison doing this week?

According to this site: “Your baby is settling into the proper position for birth, with his/her head facing downward (toward your body’s nearest exit!). Your little work in progress is now about 2.5 pounds and almost 16 inches long. He/she’s busy adding new skills such as blinking to an already impressive repertoire of tricks like coughing, sucking, hiccuping, and taking practice breaths. Your baby’s sleep now includes the REM (rapid eye movement) phase — and that means he/she could be dreaming already.”

Symptoms/Physical Changes:

- Everything that I said last week is pretty much still true.  Some congestion, dry eyes, and that nagging pain between my chest and my belly.  I’ve also had some acid reflux, but it hasn’t been too bad.

- I wake up several times in the night, but I’m always able to fall back asleep.

- I know that pregnant women are supposed to sleep on their sides, but I find that I am constantly rolling onto my back.  My doctor says that at a certain point, it will get uncomfortable to be on my back, and my body will naturally stay on its side.  That hasn’t happened yet!

- I’m feeling her moving more and more.  And if it makes any sense, I can actually tell that she’s getting bigger in there.  I love feeling her move.  Best feeling ever. Smile

Cravings/Foods I’m loving:

- I’ve been eating cereal and milk almost every night after dinner.  Sometimes it’s a healthier cereal, like Kashi Heart to Heart.  Other days, I opt for something less healthy, like Peanut Butter Toast Crunch (it’s new, and it’s awesome!).

Activity Level:

- I only worked out twice this week, because I actually felt surprisingly sore at the end of the week.  It seems like my muscles fatigue quicker these days!

Fun Events:

- Brandon put together the crib in the nursery!  We now have the crib, glider, and dresser all set up.  We also put a bookcase in there, and I bought the changing pad that will go on the dresser.  It’s so exciting to see her room coming together!

- I have another doctor’s appointment this Thursday.  I am getting the glucose test done at this appointment.  Fingers crossed that everything goes OK!

Question for ya …

What did you do this weekend?

If you’ve been pregnant before, did you have any issues sleeping on your side?

Woaa… so you lose sleep while pregnant too?! Gah so not a fan! You should be able to sleep all night no problem while prego to prepare you for all the sleepless nights in the next…10 years! lol

Hahaha oh, yes. Near the end, I think it’s quite difficult to get a good night’s sleep. ;)

Yay! Glad you guys were able to set up the nursery furniture. Can’t wait to see the finished product! I notice I have been experiencing a little more soreness these days too. I’m guessing it’s just because we have some extra weight on us – makes sense! As for sleeping, I’ve never been a back sleeper so that hasn’t been too bad for me. I put a pillow between my legs and that helps me stay in place a little better. My doctor said the same thing about the back thing though, so I wouldn’t worry about it! ;)

This weekend we had dinner with two different couples from our Sunday School class and watched a lot of football. With all of my pregnancies, I just had trouble getting comfy. When I slept on my side, I had to have a pillow between my legs.

I’ve tried the pillow between the legs thing, but I guess I need to try again! Thanks for the tip!! :)

You look amazing and good work on the nursery, you guys are making great progress! At 26 weeks, we still don’t have the nursery furniture even purchased. Just a SMALL source of my anxiety :)

Haha I’m sure you’ll be fine!! I just know that February and March are going to be busy months for us, so we needed to get a jump start now!!

Beautiful bump! I’m 28 weeks this week too and struggle to stay on my side too, even with a pillow between my legs. :) Just like your doctor said, I love how our bodies will naturally tell us when its time to lay on our side all the time. God takes care of the little details! :)

    You’re so darn cute! :)
I wonder about the sleeping on the back thing too…granted, I’m much earlier on than you, but I almost always wind up on my back during the middle of the night.
And you totally cannot go wrong with cereal…at any time of day! Sooo good.

Aww thanks, girl. I love that we’re all going through this together! It’s so fun to see all of the updates!

I used the Leachco pregnancy pillow to keep me from rolling into my back. Laying on my sides killed my hips, but my midwife encouraged me to keep at it.
I hate to say it but it gets harder before it gets easier lol it really hurt towards the end!

Your blog still won’t let me comment, but I think it’s so interesting to hear how everything is going postpartum. Please keep sharing! :)
