Wow, so much to share today! I’m not even sure where to start!
Brandon and I spent this past weekend in Gainesville, Florida … home to my “alma mater,” The University of Florida!
We drove to Gainesville after work on Friday, and got in pretty late. After getting a good night’s sleep, we woke up bright and early on Saturday, ready for some fun.
Brandon had never been to Gainesville before, so I had to give him the grand tour of campus.
Of course, it was also an excuse for me to take a little walk down memory lane!
First up, my old dorms: Beatty Towers.
Then we took a walk through the main part of campus.
(Brandon loves my picture taking, if you can’t tell.
)
Then we took the token pictures in front of the stadium.
Prior to kickoff, we had the opportunity to meet up with my old friend, Krista.
Krista is a friend from grad school, and I haven’t seen her in almost two years (since my wedding!). It was so good to catch up with her, her husband, and her little guy, Cam.
Fun stuff!
(P.S. For those who are perceptive enough, yes, I’m totally wearing the same shirt I wore last week for my pregnancy update pic. Long story short, I had high hopes of wearing my Tim Tebow Gator jersey this weekend. But, wonders of wonders, I can no longer fit my belly into my old jersey. Sigh. So I had to find a back-up blue shirt, that wouldn’t make me look like a stuffed sausage!)
Anywho, after a quick lunch at Tijuana Flats …
… (chicken quesadillas, for those who are curious), it was time to head to the stadium for the main event!
We weren’t playing a very well-known team, so the fans weren’t as rowdy as they can sometimes be.
But of course, there’s always a few guys who keep things interesting. ![]()
The Gators finished with a win …
… so I was a happy Gator fan! ![]()
After the game, we drove straight to my all-time favorite sushi restaurant ever … Dragonfly!
We decided to hang out at the bar before dinner, and the bartender whipped me up a nonalcoholic strawberry mojito. It was so good, and it make the night feel a little more special. ![]()
When we finally ate, we had quite a feast.
(Don’t worry, I only ate cooked rolls!)
To start, we had the Crispy Ebi.
This awesome couple had told us that it was their favorite dish, and they ended up ordering it for us without us knowing! How nice is that?!
The Crispy Ebi was “tempura fried tiger shrimp tossed with a honey yuzu cream sauce, peanuts, and togarashi.”
I have no idea what half of that means, but it was delicious! It tasted kind of like Bang Bang Shrimp from Bonefish Grill, but even better!
For our rolls, we had the Dragonfly Roll first …
… which consists of a tuna and albacore roll wrapped with seasonal fresh white fish, baked with a spicy sauce, and then finished with scallions and eel sauce. Yum!
Our other three rolls were the Florida roll (top left), the Krispy Krunch (on the right), and the Godzilla (bottom).
The Florida roll had smoked eel, tempura shrimp, avocado, cream cheese, and eel sauce.
The Krispy Krunch had tuna, krab, avocado, and cream cheese. It was then fried with panko bread crumbs.
And the Godzilla (which comes to the table staring at you with cream cheese eye balls!) had smoked eel, krab, cream cheese, cucumber, and scallions. Then it was topped with slices of avocado and strawberries and finished with eel sauce.
I’ve had sushi in a lot of different cities and at a lot of different restaurants, but Dragonfly still holds a special place in my heart. It’s where I first tried sushi, and I still think they have the best sushi I’ve ever eaten. Yum. ![]()

So that was my weekend! And now for a little pregnancy update!
I know, that outfit is not the best for showing off the baby bump. I took it in the hotel room before we headed home on Sunday.
A 6-hour drive while pregnant = comfy clothes are a must!!
Symptoms:
Not too many this week! Just still having aches and pains here and there, but nothing major!
Cravings:
Again, not really anything! I still prefer salty to sweet, but nothing specific stands out this week that I HAD to have!
What is the baby doing this week?
According to The Bump, the baby weighs about 10.2 ounces and measures about 6.5 inches. And he/she has working taste buds!
I saw on one site that he/she is the size of a banana, and on the other site, it said he/she was the size of a small cantaloupe. I guess it depends on if they’re measuring head to toe vs. head to rump??
Oh and of course, we’re half way through this week! Only 20 more weeks to go! Whoo-hoo!! ![]()
Fun Events:
We go to the doctor tomorrow for our 20 week appointment! And we finally get to see him or her on the ultrasound again! Last time we saw our peanut, it was literally the size of a peanut. So I am quite excited, to say the least.
Oh, and then there’s that tiny matter of finding out the GENDER! Eek!!
Let’s just hope that Baby M cooperates, and shows us the good stuff, shall we? ![]()
Question for ya …
What did you do this weekend?
If you attended college, where did you attend? How often do you get to go back?
What are you doing for the Thanksgiving holiday?
And even more importantly, what will you be eating??
We’ll be in Ohio for Thanksgiving, and I’m really looking forward to spending some time with Brandon’s family!

That sushi with the strawberries looks MIGHTY interesting….
That was our favorite roll! It was sooo good!!
I’m not a fan of cream cheese…but I’d crush that. Lol.
Are you a sushi fan?? Are there good places in the PIttsburgh area? Just curious, in case I’m ever up there visiting!
I’m a HUGE sushi fan!! There are a few places around the area that are decent. Saga in Robinson and Cranberry. But my favorite is Nakama on the South Side!! I’ve heard of another one in the Waterfront, but I can’t remember the name of it. Lol.
Very cool! Good to know that there are some great options up there!
I haven’t had sushi in so long and your pictures make me want it…badly! Looks like a fun weekend down memory lane.

Looks like a really fun weekend! Enjoy your appt today, hopefully baby will cooperate and show the goods so you can find out the gender! Exciting! I went to a small school in VA called Longwood, I don’t get back nearly as much as I wish being so far away : (
Glad you had a fun time in Florida, and the sushi looks delicious! You look great!

Ok I definitely need some sushi in the near future… I’ve been wanting it for awhile now, and I just need to go for it. All of your rolls look delicious! Glad you guys had fun visiting your alma mater!
Of course you look adorable! I can hardly believe we’re half way through our pregnancy! Time flies!

Are you hesitant because of being pregnant, or have you just not gotten around to eating it yet? Just make sure you to go a sushi restaurant that you’ve visited before and trust. Then, enjoy!!
No, I know I can get the cooked rolls and be fine. Utah is just pretty limited in their sushi places, so we don’t go much. I used to go ALL the time when I lived in California though so I miss it! I’ve just been loving all things salty lately, so it’s been sounding extra tasty to me!
Oh yes, me too. Love me some salt.
It’s so funny how our taste buds change!
What a weekend! Looks so fun! You look GREAT, lady

Fun!! I’d love to go back and visit my old school. I went to Emmaus Bible College in Dubuque, IA, but I did grad school online — sooo… no need to visit Indiana. I didn’t even go to my graduation. Lol. My husband mostly went to college in his hometown, but I don’t think he cares to visit it. Lol.

That’s awesome that you were able to do your whole grad school experience online!
I will never understand or underestimate sushi!!! Ha

Good Luck at the Dr appt. How exciting
Thank you, Amy!!
You look so precious and that sushi looks amazing! Glad you still get to indulge in your favorites
I went to UNCW (University of North Carolina at Wilmington), and we usually try to go back at least once or twice a year. Luckily the hubs and I both have friends from college who have settled there (he went to East Carolina University) so it gives us both a chance to walk down memory lane. I’m still not sure what we are up to for Thanksgiving. I won’t know if I have mono or not until tomorrow, so we can’t make a final decision until we get the results. If I don’t then we are spending the day with my family then going back to NC for a huge oyster roast the Saturday after with his family. Here’s to hoping I’m not contagious!

I went to UF as well, as you know
It was great seeing your pictures. I LOVED Dragonfly too and it was also my first place that I had suishi! I am also looking forward to taking my husband to his first Gator game
Was there a secret to getting good tickets, now that we are both alumni?
Also, you look so cute! Can’t wait to hear about the gender of the little peanut
Angelica
Thanks, Angelica! Definitely no secret, at least not that I’m aware of. We got tickets from someone at our church. I would just put out a facebook message when you’re interested in buying some, and see if anyone offers you a good deal. Or buy them online!
How fun! I went to Northwestern, and we get back to Chicago every few years. My husband went to Notre Dame, so it was a big weekend for us
We’re hoping to go to a game next year, once Ryan is a bit older!
Hope you have a wonderful visit tomorrow, the 20 week ultrasound is always my favorite visit
We are going to my cousin’s house in Hawaii for Thanksgiving….I’m bringing Patrick’s grandmother’s apple pie
Hope you have a great Thanksgiving!

I’m dying to know if it’s a boy or girl!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And Tijuana Flats was one of my favorite pregnancy foods
Your little bump is adorable…you just get cuter & cuter
Our appointment isn’t until later today.
And the plan is to have them write down the sex and not tell us, so that we can do a “reveal” in Ohio. So more than likely, I won’t know until Thursday because we want to do the reveal on Thanksgiving. Eek .. I don’t know how I can wait!
Wow that looks like such a good time! I love going to football games!!
That crispy ebi looks fantastic! I love pretty much any and all shrimp.
You look so cute with your little bump. I hope you have a great dr. appt and I am waiting in anticipation over here to find out the gender!!
