19 Weeks: Say Good-Bye to Regular Clothing (and another giveaway!).

I cannot believe that I am already at 19 weeks.  Wow.  Time sure is flying by!

I hope that everyone had a great weekend.  Personally, I am loving this week because after Friday, I will have a glorious full week off of work!

Hooray for the Thanksgiving holiday! Smile

19 Weeks

I have just a quick pregnancy update this week … nothing terribly exciting to share!

Symptoms this week:

- Less headaches (yay!)

- Some acid reflux

- I had an emotional few days last week.  I could be happy, weepy, and snippy all within a 5 minute time frame.  It was pretty impressive.  Bless my husband for dealing with me.

- I’ve been having this dull ache in my ribs, just below my bra on the left hand side.  It’s nothing major, but it’s annoying and fairly constant.  I notice it more after I eat.  Any thoughts on what it might be?

- I’m still much more into salty foods than sweet, which is the complete opposite of how I was pre-pregnancy.  I think I need to stop buying chips because I can’t stop at just a few!

- I had a Chipotle vegetarian burrito bowl twice this week, topped with plenty of guacamole and lots of chipotle hot sauce.  So. good.

What’s the baby doing this week?

The baby is about 8 1/2 ounces and measures 6 inches, head to bottom.  And according to this website, “… baby’s sensory development is exploding! His/her brain is designating specialized areas for smell, taste, hearing, vision, and touch.”  Supposedly the baby can even hear me now!  How crazy is that?! Surprised smile

Fun Events:

Well, I wouldn’t exactly call this “fun,” but I did have to go out and buy more maternity clothes this weekend.  I can still wear some of my pre-pregnancy clothes, but certain items are clearly not going to happen anymore.

So I bought a couple of new tops, two pairs of skinny (maternity) jeans, and a pair of maternity workout pants.  Everything was either from Motherhood Maternity or Old Navy.

One pair of skinny jeans is the “under belly” kind, and I’m not so sure how I feel about those.  My husband promised they look good, but let’s be honest … he’s far too wise to say anything to the contrary right now! Winking smile

And now let’s talk giveaways.

Back in March (which feels like a million years ago, at this point!), I told you guys about SendOut Cards.

You can click on the link to go back to that post, but here’s a quick recap about the concept.

Basically with this website, you can personalize cards that then get sent in the mail to friends, family, business colleagues, etc. You can add photos to the cards, include gifts (like Starbucks gift cards!), and choose from a wide variety of different types of cards.

All of this is done online, so it’s super fast and convenient. But the cards themselves aren’t just “e-cards” … they are real cards that are sent in the mail! And the coolest part?

They cost less than $1 a piece … and that includes postage!

If you want to check out the cards, you can visit my mom’s site at: www.SendOutCards.com/jpetters. You can even send out one free card, just to see what it’s like!

As we’re getting into the holiday season, I’ve been using these cards more and more.  It’s so much cheaper and easier than running out to Walmart to buy a $4.00 card.

So here’s the giveaway part.  My mom is going to give one lucky reader 25 points plus $5.00 in postage, so you can send several of your own cards!

I know all of this sounds cheesy and like a sales pitch, but I swear, I just really like the product.  It’s saved me a ton of time and money.  So I hope whoever wins the giveaway enjoys the concept as much as I do!

To enter, just leave a friendly comment.  Be sure to leave your comment by Tuesday night at 8:00, and then I’ll announce the winner on Wednesday’s post! Smile

Disclaimer: If you decide you like the idea and you order cards through my mom’s site, then she gets some small percent of the profit. But I’m not sharing this idea for her to make money … I just really think it’s a cool idea!

Question for ya …

What did you do this weekend?

What are you doing for the Thanksgiving holiday?

Any idea what this pain in my ribs could be?

WE took it pretty easy this weekend, the usual errands and chores, and of course a long run : ) I had the same rib issue with both of my pregnancies. I just chalked it up to running out of space in there for everything that has to fit. It wasn’t painful, but an annoying feeling for sure. You look adorable, now it’s time to embrace your pregnant self and rock your maternity clothes! In some way you’ll look back one day and miss it. I actually preferred the low waistbands mostly as the material over my belly drove me bonkers, but I am known to have sensory issues and my abdomen (same when I run, I hate things touching my mid-section, which is always fun in cold weather and I have to cover it! YAY

  2. Amy Cirelli

One of my close friends is pregnant right now (due in February) and she gets that rib pain too. She talked to her doctor about it and they told her it was pain from her ribs expanding. She said the pain only happens when she is sitting.

Thanks for that information, Amy. That’s similar to what I read online. It’s nice to have confirmation!

  3. Emily @ Perfection Isn't Happy

You still look so cute (as you will throughout your entire pregnancy :) ). I hope the pain in your ribs goes away soon!

I love the online card idea! I just spent $7.50 on 3 Thanksgiving cards at the store yesterday, so to say you piqued my interest is an understatement! :) I bookmarked the website so I can check it out! By the way, you are still looking so so cute with your belly! Not surprising in the least bit though! :)

You may be another week along, but you still look just as adorable <3.

Thanksgiving will be rather low key. The husband works all day, so I'll be doing nothing throughout the day until were finally able to celebrate Thanksgiving Dinner once he gets home from work. Hey at least I don't have a time frame on when dinner needs to get done :)

  9. Ashley @ My Food 'N' Fitness Diaries

Yay! I definitely see more of a defined bump now. :) Where did you find the Motherhood Maternity clothes? I haven’t looked very hard for them, but just curious. I’m wondering if the ache could be associated with some heartburn? Or is it way too low for that? I’ve been experiencing a little bit of that… NO fun!

What do you mean, where did I find the Motherhood clothes? I went to a Motherhood Maternity store in the area. Do you not have that store near you? Sorry if I’m misunderstanding the question haha! Text me if I’m totally off!! ;)

      • Ashley @ My Food 'N' Fitness Diaries

Nope, we don’t have them around so that’s why I didn’t know where to get them. I didn’t even know Motherhood Maternity had their own stores… I thought it was just another maternity brand.

Oh man, what a bummer! I just assumed that they were everywhere! So what stores do you have that carry maternity clothes? I know Old Navy and Target … any others? I’m trying to brainstorm other stores right now b/c I need some more dress pants for work, and the ones I’ve tried on at those stores don’t fit properly!

I finally can see an itty bitty bump. You’re too cute! I had that rib pain with all 4 of my kids. I personally think it had to do with my intestines changing position to make room for the baby because it would always hurt a little bit more before I had to go to the bathroom and a little bit less after. Hey – you asked!

    • notsodomesticated

I love the honesty! Thank you for sharing. You may be right about the intestines changing positions!

  14. Jen@HealthyFoodandFamily

You look so cute:) I love the bump. I’m behind on reading blogs,so I’m catching up now!
Wanted to tell you I practically lived in Gap maternity skinny jeans, they were by far my favorite. A little more pricy, but they held up through many washes.
I had that annoying pain in my ribs too :/ ugh. Mine was later in pregnancy, it was her feet literally IN my ribs. ( she bruised them…ow!) hopefully yours goes away soon!
    Much love<3

    • notsodomesticated

Thanks for the tip on the skinny jeans! I like the ones I got at Old Navy, but they do a weird “bunching” thing in the front by the crotch, so there’s certain shirts I can’t wear them with!
